Toolbox as Tackle Box?

Does anyone use a regular toolbox as a tacklebox?  The one I use at work seems a good size, one strong easy latch, nice size tray, and two divider trays on lid that seem to latch tight.  It also seems very sturdy for tossing around, or dropping, or falling in my truck.  

 

Your thoughts?

I had a craftsman plastic tool box thing that I used for a while. Here is what I think about them. 

 

1. It does not float probably

2. There is no built in rust protection

3. They can be bulky, but easy to store and carry around especially if it has a handle.

 

I think a decent bag with 3600 or 3700 trays would be better. Especially if you can get some rust protection in them as well. I am interested to see what "tool box" you are using.

Here is 3 of my favorite most often carried tackle boxes... Plastic grocery store bag, large size plastic butter container w/ lid, and an old shoebox lol My fishing buddy also has one of those $2 styrofoam coolers that I have took a sharpie to and now reads Yeti. No I’m not making any of this up ? The bass have not failed to bite either. Keep your eyes open for me on the water, packing that Dollar General bag!!!

I was thinking Plastic, not metal.  The tacklebox I used as a kid in the 70s was given to me by the old man across the street.  It was probably from the 1940s and full of 1940s gear, heavy... stolen recently.

 

I'll consider suggestions... maybe a Dollar General bag!

I have one the metal Kennedy tackle boxes from way back. You can run across a hundred of the Kennedy tool boxes to one of the tackle boxes at least the yard sales I see. And yea it weighs a ton

Yeah, if it works, why not. I use soft side on the boat and knapsack when bank fishing.

No, but I use a shoe as a hammer, a butter knife as a screwdriver and I trim my hedges with a lawnmower...

Man thats exactly what I have been looking for for a while!!  No luck down here at the yard sales / antique stores though

@MAN I see one posted on the bay occasionally but it definitely isn’t yard sale prices but if you want one bad enough...

I used a large plastic tool box to keep all my plastics in at one time. Worked pretty good.

On the boat, i have a plastic ammo box to store some on my plastics. I use the tray for my hooks.

here is mine.  I keep baits inside in plastic bags with a sharpie label.  works for me.
