Got skunked, what happened?

Looking for some insight on this fishing trip. In NY, water temps right about right for the beginning of the spawn. Nasty weather. 12mph and over winds, overcast, and light rain. Late in the day to a little after sundown. This screamed spinnerbait to me. I fished safety pin style ones parallel to the bank where thicker weeds and some light wood were. Sometimes farther out over grass beds. I also fished shad raps 5-7 gold and yellow perch bumping against riprap on another side of the reservoir. Also fished mepps aglia and mepps comet mino hoping for a bite from either bass or trout (the reservoir is stocked with many many trout). Very clear water normally. Up to 28'. Im wondering what happened. Seemed like a great time to fish this heavily pressured reservoir, I dunno. But I'm always of the opinion that when i come up empty handed, its my fault.

What happened? You answered that in your title...you got skunked!

In all seriousness sometimes you just get a but kicking. I will say that if you think bass are on or in the process of getting on beds I would throw a weightless senko or fluke around

I agree with your first assessment, @LrgmouthShad, and I too would have been hammering the wind-blown banks with a spinner, vibrating jig, and crankbaits...but when movers clearly aren't working it's time to slooooooow down!  Get out the t-rig, Ned rig, wacky, and drag a jig.

That's why I start fast and slowly slow down until I catch fish.
