mphenry Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Is there certain brands of gas that don't have the ethenol mix people keep talking about that can harm the outboard? Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted October 14, 2009 Super User Posted October 14, 2009 We don't have any ethanol free gasoline as far as I can find. I just keep a good water seperating fuel filter on my motor. Quote
Al Wolbach Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 There are no brands in my area that are ethanol free however there are a few one of a kind stations that offer ethanol free gas. Word of mouth is the only advertising that I am aware of. A local fishing website keeps a list updated for this area.(East Tn fishing)............Al Quote
natanestaban Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 In Alabama, Liberty stations have no ethenol. Always a line there. Duh! You would think some of other stations would notice. Quote
Sfritr Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Here in Michigan I know that at least two of the marinas on Lake St.Clair supply ethanol free gas. You pay hefty prices cause your at the marina though. Quote
Mike 12345 Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 In Nashville, the Kwik-Sak/Marathon stations *advertise* that they have ethanol free fuel. With my boat, I get gas there when possible, with hopes that it actually is ethanol free. I still add Stabil Marine ethanol formula though. I don't get how refineries/manufacturers can sell ethanol free stuff- isn't there some gov't mandate that controls fuel manufacturing? How do these other guys get around it, or better yet, why aren't there more stations that offer ethanol free fuel? Quote
Hot Rod Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 The law doesn't mandate that fuels have an ethanol component. Only that fuels can have no more than 10% ethanol. Which, of course they want to push to 15%. Quote
whoopbazz Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Gulf gas is ethanol free...atleast around here. Get some some additive to keep handy in your boat and or tow vehicle. Quote
Ellesar Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Keep in mind that the only way to know that gas is ethanol free is to test it yourself. Just because it doesn't say it contains ethanol, doesn't mean its ethanol free. Quote
clipper Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 I found ethanol free gas just over the Georgia line in Cedar Bluff, Alabama. It's an hour drive unless I am going to Rome for some other reason like taking the wife to shop. Then I drive a few more miles west and fill up my gas cans. I have an older outboard and have grown reluctant to use gas with ethanl. My engine seems to have lost power over the summer on the gas containing ethanol. I also have fiberglass fuel tanks. I called fuel dealers around the Cartersville-Acworth area and couldn't find anyone who knew of an ethanol free station anywhere. Quote
mikesjet Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Yep same here in central PA, Gulf is ethanol free. What a difference in mileage in the road vehicles. Quote
Bigs Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 Here in virginia you have to go to the country to get it. It only comes in 89 octane too. When I used to put it in my tracker, it ran better and went a few mph faster also. Well worth the few extra cents per gallon imo. Quote
