I once thought like that. Then later learned that the barber I thought was good sucked. People literally started telling me they liked my hair as soon as I stopped going to him. So that fate can be a blessing.

I’m actually overdue for a haircut, because fishing.

Simple clippers with no guard and couple minutes is all that's needed if you're naturally handsome.

You're making me blush!

To add insult to injury, I'm one of those lucky guys that has hair everywhere except on his head. I was 25 and it was already out of control. If you think you see bigfoot it's probably me, so don't shoot! And thanks Dad!

I was going to the same barbershop for 39 years. Last year they shut down for COVID-19. After they reopened, you had to schedule an appointment. With my work schedule I could never get in so I started going to a different place that is closer to home.

I went to visit a neighbors recommended barbershop.  I stepped in and the old guy barber says 'you're up'.

He proceeded to razor cut the shipwreck out of my neck before I realized he kept stopping to get the bleeding in check.  I looked in the mirror when I got home and was shocked at the damage.  Like a dummy I didn't immediately put anti-bacterial on it.  Within a few days I had 5 mosquito-like bumps up in my hairline that have taken over a year to go back down.

My wife was cutting my hair for awhile but we are splitting, so now I cut my own with double mirrors so I can see the back.  Good enough for an all grey old guy. I don't worry if the chicks dig it any more.

I'm amazed you could find someone that know how to cut hair.  I want never forget the first time my wife talked me into getting my hair cut at one of these chain things at a mall.  I sat down, this girl puts that cover thing on me and asked what number.  I asked what was she talking about, what number?  She said what number blade guide do you use.  I told her I've always gone to a real barber that didn't need training wheels on their clippers, I had no idea what number she needed.

I don't know of a real barber in any of the three towns I usually go to.  They have all gone.

Some of the salon stylists don't even know to clean clippers. After my favorite barber retired, I tried a salon and I got a major rash on my neck. Had to go to the doctor. He said I had "barbers rash" from dirty clippers. Never again!

Yes, my hair is short and the lady that cuts my hair knows the clipper routine.....1-2-3.  1 for around the edges, 2 for the sides and 3 for the top.  But that’s not the only reason I go to her.......truth be told it’s for the scalp and neck massage she gives when washing my hair after the cut.  That gentlemen is a slice of heaven if you’ve never had it.  I learned about it from a girl I knew in my single days whose parents ran a beauty college.  For someone who knows what they are doing, a scalp massage can be quite the experience.  ?

I used to go to a place that did that. Nah, not for me, I can’t have some strange woman all up in my scalp like that.

Nope. Nope. Nope. To cut my hair, you have to be a guy. You have to have to be married. And you have to have kids that are at least 15 or 16. If it’s not just a guy cutting a guy’s hair because guys need haircuts, it’s not for me. I don’t want any massaging, cuteness, nothing. I just want my hair cut.

To each his own, pal - but you don't know what you're missing...a good scalp massage is heaven.

MN Fisher, I'm with you.  I don't care for all the conversation and BS.  My routine now is, clip a #5 guide on, buzz it all over, tapper around the ears and back of my neck and send me on my way.  If they can do that in five minutes and send me on my way, I'm a happy camper.  I have a girl at Great Clips that does just that.  The haircut cost $12 and I give her a $5 tip.  The bad part is, they have such a high turnover, she may not be there the next time.

After many frustrations and inconsistencies with barbers and stylists alike, I turned to my trusty friend....YouTube. I watched a many video about cutting your own hair and the methods behind it. The most important bit to me is the three way mirror. This is a model that was recommended on YouTube years ago however I built my own. I've given myself a few bad haircuts especially at first, however I've been successfully giving myself a decent faded style haircut for a few years now. The only bad parts is once you start cutting your own and people know about it, they ask if I can cut their hair as well.image.thumb.png.913bbbb6319e45534bf5f355b31d48e0.png

That stinks. The same lady has been cutting my hair and my son’s hair for the last 15 years.

If the lady retires I told my wife I am going to buy some hair clippers and she can buzz my head. I would hate it but she would love the few bucks we would save.

My Dad is 83 and still gets his hair cut and styled. The Apple didn’t fall far from the vanity tree.

There is a God!

I called her cell on Sunday and she texted me back Monday She's been in Mexico for the last month for a family emergency. She closed up shop after 20 years because traffic never recovered from covid. She's working out of her basement.

I haven't lost enough hair to go bald. My brother on the other hand should shave what's left of his hair but refuses to.

Haven't paid for more than a dozen haircuts since I arrived at Navy boot camp in September 1982.  When I wasn't on a ship, both of my wives could manage #2 straight up sides and back, and #3 across top just fine

I am in between barbers right now and it's stressing me out.  I have been shaving my head bald for decades now but about ten years ago I decided to grow a full beard and I am hopeless when it comes to trying to trim it.  I go to just clean it up and end up taking 2-3" off.

I have found a place that is both open until 7pm and is between my house and 2-3 of my after work ponds, so I am hoping like hell it works out.
