She was the second haircut and every haircut after, I got when I moved here. Quote
Super User Way2slow Posted May 6, 2021 Super User Posted May 6, 2021 I'm amazed you could find someone that know how to cut hair. I want never forget the first time my wife talked me into getting my hair cut at one of these chain things at a mall. I sat down, this girl puts that cover thing on me and asked what number. I asked what was she talking about, what number? She said what number blade guide do you use. I told her I've always gone to a real barber that didn't need training wheels on their clippers, I had no idea what number she needed. I don't know of a real barber in any of the three towns I usually go to. They have all gone. Quote

The only difference between a barbers license and a beauticians license is beauticians are not allowed to pick up a razor. It's got to be 25 years since I've been to a barber. Pretty much since I left Chicago proper. The girl who cut my hair prior to this one didn't speak English. I came into the shop and she said "Short" and I responded "Short". She cut my hair for the 5 years I lived there and we never spoke a word except for "Short". My current girl is a few years my senior. I've watched her children grow up. We shared stories about our families. She tried setting me up with one of her girlfriends. She teased me about losing my hair and my grey Mohawk that is slowly creeping in. A sad day 2 Quote

Super User Koz Posted May 6, 2021 Super User Posted May 6, 2021 When I lived in SC I had the same two girls at Sport Clips cut my hair for over 10 years. When I moved here to boondocks GA earlier in the year and needed a haircut I drove 35 minutes to go to a Great Clips since the nearest Sport Clips was an hour away. It was an OK haircut but not worth the drive. So when I needed my haircut a few weeks ago I found a local barber that had good online reviews and a recent feature article in the local newspaper. How bad could it be? Bad, Really bad. The guy was about 118 years old and needed a walker to move around a little bit. But no worries, he elderly. Then he cut my hair. He left the sideburns ragged, the cut was uneven on both sides, and one side of my head had a jagged line. My part was also in a new place. I'm in my late 50's and he gave me what looked like a little boy's haircut, and not in a good way. Holy cow that was a bad haircut. I guess I'll be making that 35 minute drive again... 1 Quote

Suck it up buttercup, you’re losing your hair just cut it short. I’m not saying that because you’re 10 years older than me and I’m bald up top. Life is actually easier with a shaved head. I’m not to the point of a razor shave but I’m getting there. 1 Quote

I normally went to the local Great Clips for many, many years. It was simply a numbered clipper. Pretty easy haircut. However, when the state closed up some businesses last spring, barber/salons were one of them. So now what? Let it grow out? I did for a while but it got so long to the point where it was literally bothering me. So I hit some retail stores for a set of clippers. WIPED OUT completely! Let's check ebay. Sure enough, there's plenty for sale but they're about 20% above cost because of the demand. Bit the bullet and bought a set. My wife has been doing it now and I have to say that she does just as good of a job as a barber would since its simply putting on the correct clipper and using it. I am not sure how guys tolerate hair longer than a couple inches. Its uncomfortable, hot, and itchy. Trevor Lawrence: get a haircut. 1 Quote
