All my rods , reels , line weight , brand I keep on Word document on my desktop. I keep a printed copy in my reel box cabinet and have a copy on my phone. I am what one would call…. Anal ?

I am anal to the max also. But on my rods I’m using the majority of the time that line is not on there but an outing or two. Maybe three times out. I don’t want to loose that nice one due to line. I buy it  bulk spool and it works out to be pretty cheap in the long run and good piece of mind.

I have all my combos with lines spooled in a google spreadsheet. I don't switch reels around much, so this works for me.

I also have tabs for each type of lure with brand, model, weight, hooks size, color names/codes and prices paid. It's handy because I can access it on my phone while I'm in the store.  When I see a shiny bait on the shelf calling my name, I can look up and see that I already have it at home.  ?

I keep the original filler spool for reference. All the line I use is a different color. If I can’t see the difference just accurately  measure the diameter. Not everyone has the tools or can see the differences then use a label on the reel seat bottom.

Color differences can be slight like Tatsu to me has a light amber look, Sunline Shooter slight green, Armillo gray, Sniper very clear, Max UG green etc.

I just write it on a piece of paper and leave it in my bag.
If I forget, I look at it.

Yeah I had to start writing down what’s on each rig and when. Most importantly the brand. Just can’t keep it straight anymore.

I only have 3 main bass rod/reel combos, 2 spinning and 1 baitcasting and they all use 15-20 braid with 12 pound leader. It's not ideal, but I haven't gotten into techniques like swimbaiting, frogging, or punching. I am gonna diversify though! But for now, I know what I have on.

These guys were a site sponsor briefly and I actually picked up a couple to try.

Haven't placed them into service yet so I can't offer any input.

But they seem to have the potential to solve 'the problem'.

This is great, until you use a reel with a different rod.

I had one spinning rig for years. Nobody needs a bunch, it’s just nice ?. You can do anything you want from any setup. Certain ones just make it easier. But my grandad could catch any fish he wanted with any rod/reel in his hand. The lure and fisherman count. Rod/reel just make it harder/easier.
