thunderblack Posted May 4, 2021 Posted May 4, 2021 I thought you guys may get a kick out of this. Sent a thick PVC tube one state over and this is what the buyer received through USPS. I mean.....how?? Daiwa Steez RIP. This had to be deliberate. I was told these are not conveyed as well. It was insured but been shipping rods for over 6 yrs and never seen size 40 PVC mangled like this. What did they do run it over with a truck? 4 Quote

Skunkmaster-k Posted May 4, 2021 Posted May 4, 2021 What in the world ? At my job I see a lot of damaged freight , but that's next level stupid . 1 Quote
thunderblack Posted May 4, 2021 Author Posted May 4, 2021 Sure is. Looks like a car ran it over. Quote
GReb Posted May 4, 2021 Posted May 4, 2021 They can claim they are not placed in a conveyer belt all they want but I’ll never believe it. I’ve received several rods that had rod tubes ripped and unraveled. You could see the impact point and where it was pulled like a can of biscuits. Now when I ship one I have the clerk place bunch of fragile stickers all over it and they’ve arrived in perfect condition. Quote
Johnbt Posted May 4, 2021 Posted May 4, 2021 What one dealer said to me. I've purchased rods from a place in the midwest and never had a problem. The rods come in a heavy cardboard tube. And then, a couple of years ago when I ordered a Conquest 844C, the tube was completely broken into two pieces and half-heartedly taped back together at an odd angle. The rod was somehow undamaged. Still is fwiw. I called the shipper to let them know and during the conversation the owner said, "We've tried PVC tubes, but I think the shipping company employees see them as a special challenge." 1 Quote

This is helpful and also mortifying. Never had issues with PVC. Shipping rods (for me) at least has been more hassle than its worth this past yr. I've also heard marking tubes 'fragile' makes them a target too. Insure your packages guys! Quote

And my personal experience backs that up. "Fragile" means "fun to break". "Caution, Liquid Inside" means, "if you break it, you'll have a mess to clean up". So I always print off stickers that warn of liquid inside, even if there isn't any. It's not 100% effective, but it does seem to help. 2 Quote
