So I really really want a boat. Problem is despite having a tow hitch on my Honda Odyssey, I don’t have the logistics for a trailer at my house. A roof rack is a possible option, but realistically I can’t see my wife always helping getting a plastic kayak on and off the roof,  and my son is too small to help with those matters. Not to mention I don’t want to accidentally ding and scrape my wife’s 3 year old car!

so I came across this line of inflatable kayaks tonight called Sea Eagle. They got me pretty excited. The price point is good, and the 420x model can hold over 800lbs!  That’s good because I weight close to 300 myself and my son is 110. I really like the idea of having a lot of overhead room.

does anyone have any experiences with these kinds of kayaks?  I figured when deflated this would easily fit in my van with the seats down.

my only concern of course is durability since I mostly want to take it out on the lake to get into the trees and bushes to target fish. I’m just worried about underwater trees and bushes poking a hole in the thing, despite them making it sound like they are durable enough to withstand that sort of thing. Any thoughts?  Thanks

Just get a kayak you will be much happier. If your main concern is your ability to load the kayak onto a vehicle without scratching it. This is a minor concern, there are hundreds of videos illustrating several different methods of doing what you are worried about.

My sophisticated piece of equipment to get my kayak onto my car is a rubber backed shower mat. It gets the job done.

Honestly I am also searching for a kayak since I cant have boat in my home. and also I am going to use this boat for shark fishing at surf, So I need something that stable the most and can handle rough ocean condition. So far I found this,

An old pickup truck will set you free. Throw it in the back, strap her down, let’s go fishin. Daylight is a wastin’!

There are lots of other inflatable options available.  Check out Dave Scadden, Outcast, Sea Eagle, Classic Accessories Colorado,  etc.  You might want a two-man pontoon instead of a kayak...

I just ordered my fiancée an Advanced Elements Advanced Frame model AE1012-R. No idea if it'll be any good, but they're supposed to be a steip up from the competing Intrex so I figured what the hell let's give it a shot. It actually just arrived today.

If you can afford a Bote and of course would use it enough to justify the cost , then that's the way to go.

This also looks promising as well.

.   A friend has had the sea eagle for years, no leaks or anything.   And he uses it a lot. .I have the Bote Lono Aero.  Awesome in many ways, but I just discovered a small puncture in it.  Only used it about a dozen times total since I got it last summer.  And they hyped it as more durable than a rigid body kayak in the videos.  I'm doing a warranty claim soon.
