papajoe222 Posted May 4, 2021 Posted May 4, 2021 Are you considering a casting, or spinning combo and what size/weight/type of baits will you be using? Check out the Fishing Rods, Reels, Line, and Knots forum You may even try moving this thread there for better responses. 1 Quote
Andreas1509 Posted May 4, 2021 Author Posted May 4, 2021 Oh sorry for not mentioning, but it would be a spinning rod, medium light or medium. I’ll also be putting 6-10 pound line on it. Quote
JWall14 Posted May 4, 2021 Posted May 4, 2021 Fury’s are nice. I got the 7’ ML and caught thousands of smallies on it. Great for the price. Quote

HookInMouth Posted May 4, 2021 Posted May 4, 2021 What's your budget? My smallie-snatcher is a 7' medium fast Expride A with a 2500 Stradic FL. It's a fantastic rod. Makes me wish I didn't always gravitate toward the baitcaster. But. I always do. Quote

Michigander Posted May 4, 2021 Posted May 4, 2021 Good drag is quite important for lighter line and smallmouth. I've been really happy with the smoothness of the Diawa Legalis drag, even before I polished the metal washers it was awesome. Now it's basically perfect. That would leave you about $110ish for a rod. 3 Quote
