Hey everyone. I recently purchased a Minn Kota 80lb thrust 24V trolling motor. Yesterday when I went to deploy it a small black cylinder fell out that I was able to grab, and now the motor will only deploy when pulling from directly behind where the cable comes out. I'm thinking the cylinder has something to do with the leverage to be able to pull it up from any angle. Does anyone know what my issue really is and where the part goes so I can replace it? Thanks in advance.

The cylinder does support the trolling motor's weight, reducing the effort in deployment. It connects to the support frame in a very specific manner: check the installation instructions for the correct way to do this. It is shipped disconnected and not connected until the rest of the installation is complete.

Hey guys, thanks for the responses. It is not the gas spring pin. It appears to be part 406 in the mind Kota mount parts diagram. If you guys know where this part goes please let me know and TIA.

In my manual, the only part item 406 is "lead wire, foot pedal".

We can't be talking about the same thing. How about a picture or perhaps the actual MK part #?
