Super User DitchPanda Posted April 30, 2021 Super User Posted April 30, 2021 My girlfriend and I tested positive today so we will see how it goes. Aren't really sure where we got the exposure. Any of you guys been through it?
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted April 30, 2021 Super User Posted April 30, 2021 Not sure, never been tested, I assume that's the only way to know. My step dad had it and almost died, they made my mom get tested before she could visit him and she tested positive for the anti-body but she would have never known. She wasn't sure when she had it.
Super User MN Fisher Posted April 30, 2021 Super User Posted April 30, 2021 Not me - been tested twice since TSHTF - nada I have lost a relative to it - but they had health issues before they got it. Couple friends got laid up for a while - but they recovered fine.
Super User DitchPanda Posted April 30, 2021 Author Super User Posted April 30, 2021 Never know what to expect...my bosses wife had it and she has asthma. Wasn't doing to bad but they decided to do a breathing treatment to help her recover faster...she had an allergic reaction to the medication they used and ended up on a vent for a day. He said if they would have left her alone she would have been fine in a few days. Another guy I know got it early on...like April or May last year. They had an outbreak at work. He had influenza like a month prior and said it was 10 times worse then the covid. 22 minutes ago, jbsoonerfan said: Not sure, never been tested, I assume that's the only way to know. A month or so down the line she got the anti body test for some reason and the doc says when did you have covid?
Kyle S Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 I had it back in January of this year. I started having 'symptoms' right around the third day after exposure. The first day all I had was some decent body aches/fatigues. just couldn't get comfortable no matter what I did. The next day the body aches subsided and I had very mild vertigo in the mornings when I got out of bed. The third day is when smell and taste was harder to detect, not completely lost, just harder to notice. Outside of that if you count boredom as a symptom, thats all I had. I was fortunate and hope you and your girl are as well. fishing a private pond is great social distancing might I add... just kidding or am I?
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted April 30, 2021 Global Moderator Posted April 30, 2021 A couple that my wife dog sits and grooms their dog for both got it. He was in the icu for five days and was give a cocktail of drugs to knock it out of him and he was better after a week or so. His wife didn’t qualify for this cocktail and she’s now on week five of flu like symptoms! She’s doing better but holy cow what a nightmare! My boss has it and has for about a week, but is almost back to 100%. Strange how differently it affects people.
VolFan Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 My neighbors across the street had it all at the same time. 4 of 5 had flu-like symptoms of varying degrees with the kids being fairly light. The mom was on the border of being hospitalized but they let her stay home with supplemental O2 and daily paramedic visits. It killed a friend and coworker. Flu to pneumonia to infection to sepsis to organ failure. His whole family got it as well, including 85 yr old parents and he and his brother were both hospitalized. Odds are you will be fine, but don’t discount it.

Black Hawk Basser Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 My wife and I both had it around Thanksgiving. We both just had aches and extreme fatigue. We both lost our taste and smell for a while. For her, that lasted about a week or two. Seemed to last longer for me. Worst part of it was that my toe joints ached bad, it was really odd.
Super User Bird Posted April 30, 2021 Super User Posted April 30, 2021 Both of my Daughters and both of my brothers tested positive and all recovered with mild symptoms, mainly just the loss of smell and taste. Even my 80 yr old uncle and aunt (76) both reported very mild symptoms. Wife and I were around everyone mentioned and somehow avoided it. We've both had our shots since, Pfizer. You'll both be fine.
FishinBuck07 Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 Wife and I both had it in January, I have had Bronchitis that was worse than that, my wife had every symptom they had on the list. Like the others said you will most likely be just fine but it affects everyone differently. 1
Super User DitchPanda Posted April 30, 2021 Author Super User Posted April 30, 2021 Weirdest thing for us is we don't have alot of the "typical" symptoms...so far at least. We do have fatigue...but otherwise we have sinus pain and draining. Very little cough, no fever, no sore throat. We have both been working thinking we had sinus infections since we both have allergies and are prone to them in spring. Only reason she got tested was she lost her taste yesterday...when she tested positive they suggested I get tested and bingo.
Super User gim Posted April 30, 2021 Super User Posted April 30, 2021 It may also depend on the viral load you have or if you now have a new mutated strain too. The original strain has mostly been replaced by other strains now. I don't think I've ever had it, but I can't say for sure because I never was tested for it, nor was I tested for the antibodies. I'm fully vaccinated now, so that's a moot point. I personally know two people who had it and they both had awful outcomes. My uncle who is in his 60's ended up in the hospital for about a week (non-ICU) and it has taken him a long time to recover. He was overweight before he got it. My neighbor, who is 50-something and also overweight, caught it in December and his outcome was much worse. He had a blood clot from it and then a stroke. He is back home now but has completely lost use of his right arm. I feel bad for him as he used to be a fairly active guy. I remember talking to him in October and he and his wife were experiencing "pandemic fatigue." They were getting sick of staying home all the time, not eating out, and not seeing their kids/grandkids, so they started doing all of that again and it obviously back fired. I hope for a speedy and safe recover for you Ditchpanda. Stay safe and stay home until you aren't contagious anymore.
Super User J Francho Posted April 30, 2021 Super User Posted April 30, 2021 I hope you have a fast recovery back to normal! I've been tested a couple times, and will be again before having a small surgical procedure next month. So far, so good. 1
Super User DitchPanda Posted April 30, 2021 Author Super User Posted April 30, 2021 Thanks to everybody for the well wishes..I will keep you guys posted as this thing progresses. 1

Super User .ghoti. Posted April 30, 2021 Super User Posted April 30, 2021 I had it, about this time last year. The worst of it was over after four days, but a relentless dry cough lasted a long time. Got the first plague shot Wednesday and have been sicker than a dog since.
Super User Spankey Posted April 30, 2021 Super User Posted April 30, 2021 Myself and two work buddies got sicker than dogs and possessed all the symptoms last February before this all started to come about. Never giving Covid a thought. I believe we had it. I had an antibody test June/julyish came back negative. Whatever I still believe I had it. Now a year later I have both my shots. But more importantly I hope you and your wife feel better. Stay hydrated. Do what you have to from a bad fever. Sorry you have to go through it.
Super User Tennessee Boy Posted April 30, 2021 Super User Posted April 30, 2021 You just never know how it will affect you. I know a 93 year old woman that had it and had very mild symptoms for 4 days. I know a 28 year old man than was in the hospital for 9 weeks and after being home for 2 months can’t take more than a few steps with a walker.
schplurg Posted May 1, 2021 Posted May 1, 2021 My coworkers Mom hasn't been able to taste or smell since December 15th. I'm not sure I'd want to live if I couldn't taste food. She can't even cook confidently with no smell. Makes her cry.

He said she instantly became terribly ill and died three days after it hit her. He said that he had it, too and didnt even know it. 18 hours ago, schplurg said: My coworkers Mom hasn't been able to taste or smell since December 15th. lo n slo Posted May 1, 2021 Posted May 1, 2021 i caught it a couple weeks before Christmas. then my wife got it. it didn’t hit us that hard, but it seems to have a mind of it’s own and affects some people differently than others.

Yep the more I ask about it the more this seems to be the consensus. My girlfriend told me a story about a guy who has family that either works or goes to the daycare she works at. He was like 35 and died after having it a few days. My buddies parents are in there 70s and survived with no complications in like a week.

Why did you opt for the soy sauce after already getting the virus? Your body should have produced its own antibodies. 1
