I don’t find it boring in the least. When the bite is on, I think it’s a ton of fun skipping a WR under overhanging brush or casting to open spots around sunken logs and watching the line take off.

Then again, I find dragging a TR fun!

I am not super into dragging baits but then when I catch a big fish dragging a bait, I am super into dragging baits. ?

For a long time it was the only thing I could do and catch a bass and I guess I'm just thankful there's other options that work that are a little more involved.

I will say, dragging baits is satisfying on rip rap, ledges, points and jumps that have harder bottom composition.  Nice to sort of feel out the topography and learn the sweet spots.

I dont really hate fishing any bait at all that's catching the fish on any given day and some days the wacky rig is your best buddy!

I fish a wacky rig different than most I think. After I pick a target and fling the wacky rig, I let it sink, jig it a couple times, then reel in and make the next cast. I do not and will not fish a wacky rig back to the boat like a Texas rig or ned rig or most other soft plastic presentations. Cast, let it sink, pop once to twice, reel in, repeat.

I won’t Wack anything but thats how I taught the kids and now the littler ones.

I just started weening them off a spinning outfit and working on skipping it.

I switch it up, but no matter what retrieve I use, you can bet that worm is falling vertically multiple times during the retrieve.  Sometimes it a slow lift and let it fall on slack line while watching my line. Other times, I'll let it fall under tension, so it fall on a bit of an angle.  When using a weighted version during the summer, I'll stroke it along breaklines or deep weed edges. Believe it or not, sometimes a simple chuck and wind will get some violent strikes. In other words, I experiment until I find what works best on that particular day.

It’s not a wacky rig anymore if it’s weighted. It’s a neko rig.

He didn’t specify where he is weighing the worm at. If he’s using inchy wacky (flickshake/ jig wacky whatever you wanna call it) then it’s definitely worth working it back to the boat through open water, it tends to “hover” better than the neko rig, a slow steady retrieve with small constant twitches has got me plenty of bites on it.
