That plug should have come with the transducer. If you call Humminbird service they will probably send you one for free to fix the problem. The only way I know about the fix is because I had the same problem. So I picked up a plug today. Did yours fit a bit loose/sloppy? Mine won’t fall off but it sure isn’t a tight fit or really a tight seal. Guess I’ll find out tomorrow if it fixes the problem! 1 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted April 29, 2021 Global Moderator Posted April 29, 2021 Let us know how it goes! I’ve moved my transducer several times to get optimum reading/less drag. I wouldn’t think that would cause steering issues but definitely splash issues. Once you are up on plane trim the motor up little by little (smallest increments possible) and take note of any changes. It will rev loudly if you go up too high, just below there is the sweet spot 1 Quote
Super User MickD Posted April 29, 2021 Super User Posted April 29, 2021 I don't get it! My Lund 1650 Rebel has no tendency to get unruly at speed when I let go of the steering. In time I suppose it would turn, but it's basically a neutral kind of thing. It is a very forgiving boat. As I said, I don't get it that a similar or the same boat gets somewhat wild quickly. I have a Merc 60 4 stroke on the single console Rebel 1650. Great boat/motor. Regarding trim and plane, I start as most others do with the engine down, then attain plane, then I back off the throttle to about 5000 rpm, about 24 mph (not sure the numbers are absolutely accurate) where it runs on plane comfortably/easily/effortlessly, and I might or might not trim. For max speed, yes, I trim up to get max speed of about 32 mph. If one trims too high the boat will start to porpoise. If one is not interested in max speed , one doesn't have to trim off that full down position at all. 1 Quote

I would just try it & see. Worse case get another plug & see if it fits better, Also you could glue it in permanently. 1 Quote

Allen Der Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 wow, a lot more rebel owners here than I thought. my 2014 rebel XL 1650 doesnt list. I also never fill the livewell, so maybe that's an issue? I also have two group 27's batteries on the port side in the bow storage. FYI the 2010 rebel is a completely different layout and not relevant. Lund fixed the weight distribution issues with that model by moving the trolling battery and live well Quote
Cyclones Posted April 30, 2021 Author Posted April 30, 2021 Sssshhhhhhh!!! My 11 year old boy and I are about to take the boat and go fish. Wife thinks he shouldn’t miss school (he’s “sick”, so far as the school knows!) but I say boating and fishing is likely a better life skill than anything he’d learn in school today. 1 Quote
Super User MickD Posted April 30, 2021 Super User Posted April 30, 2021 I've never noticed the water level in the live well having anything to do with how the boat performs, dynamically or statically. Quote
Cyclones Posted April 30, 2021 Author Posted April 30, 2021 The plug worked, no more spray in the boat, thanks for the advice. As far as leaning to port, it does it at idle and underway, but less so at speed on plane. Didn’t really have a chance to play with weight distribution today so will have to try that out next time. Super User slonezp Posted May 1, 2021 Super User Posted May 1, 2021 Where's the fuel tank on your boat? I don't know about their smaller boats but the larger Lunds run all the weight down the keel. Fuel, oil tank(2 strokes) and batteries run straight down the center of the rig. Quote
E-rude dude Posted May 1, 2021 Posted May 1, 2021 Cadillacs don’t lean going down the road??? Still think it’s just a matter of learning to drive it. It’s a light boat that will be much more affected by trim angle, wind, and water current. Quote

Most of the lakes here I’ll fish are no wake so most of the time it won’t matter....but I do need to learn. I’m looking for someone local who can come out with me and show me what I don’t know and need to know. It’d be a plus if they could teach me to read my Humminbird! 2 Quote
