There's a ton of water that doesn't have weeds that require punching. I mean, not where you are, or really even where I am, but you know... Enough that there are probably many anglers that never need to rig up a punch rig. I'm not putting in my #1, but it deserves a mention in the top 5. It is Ike's opinion & mine as well that to be the #1 lure it has to work in all conditions. I would probably put a spinnerbait #3. 1 Quote

Black Hawk Basser Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 I begrudgingly say #1 is a Texas rigged plastic, agreeing with Catt's reasoning. I much prefer a jig, but there is not one lake or pond around me I can efficiently cover with a jig through the summer months. It just gets too thick. 2 Quote
Super User WRB Posted April 28, 2021 Super User Posted April 28, 2021 Soft plastic worm has caught more bass then jigs and spinnerbaits combined. #1 is the worm!, everyone can catch bass on them everywhere. Tom 6 Quote
Super User Bankc Posted April 28, 2021 Super User Posted April 28, 2021 The Manifold Deniro Yugo Frame Glide Bait is the greatest lure ever. And I can prove it. It costs over $500. Ipso facto, it is 100x's better than a jig. 1 3 Quote

Super User FishTank Posted April 28, 2021 Super User Posted April 28, 2021 Jigs and T rig for me. I hardly fish a spinnerbait anymore. Just doesn't produce on the lakes I fish as much as it used to. Quote
Luke Barnes Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 Ok so what is it about a jig? I know a popular trailer is a rage craw. Well ive had way better luck with a t rig rage craw than a jig. Does the skirt make the bass like it better than a regular craw with no skirt? I dont see it personally. 1 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted April 28, 2021 Super User Posted April 28, 2021 A texas rigged Plastic worm seems to be more consistent than a jig for me but they are both top tier lures . 1 Quote

Yeah I still dont see how that makes it more effective than a T Rig. Quote

Super User J Francho Posted April 29, 2021 Super User Posted April 29, 2021 A safety pin style spinnerbait predates the modern skirted bass jig. 3 Quote
Super User Mobasser Posted April 29, 2021 Super User Posted April 29, 2021 I'll still have to stick with a t rig worm. Jigs are great too, but so many guys struggle with catching bass on jigs. I know I had a harder time catching bass on jigs years ago. A t rig worm seemed a little easier to learn. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted April 29, 2021 Super User Posted April 29, 2021 According to Bassmaster Magazine, the spinnerbait is the winningest bait at the top levels. I think that says more about fishing at that level than the baits themselves, or the typical avid bass anglers we see on this forum. 2 Quote

Personally mind you, T rig is more effective because its more weedless, so thus I have more confidence throwing it anywhere and to me its more versatile because you can rig anything on it. But that's just my opinion. Also I'm not a jig guy so maybe I'm biased, but maybe I'm biased for a reason, and the reason being I have done night and day better with a t rig. Quote
