Show me what rig works best for punching through water? :P

There's a ton of water that doesn't have weeds that require punching.  I mean, not where you are, or really even where I am, but you know...  Enough that there are probably many anglers that never need to rig up a punch rig.  I'm not putting in my #1, but it deserves a mention in the top 5.

It is Ike's opinion & mine as well that to be the #1 lure it has to work in all conditions.

I would probably put a spinnerbait #3.

That's about where I'd put it too.

I begrudgingly say #1 is a Texas rigged plastic, agreeing with Catt's reasoning.  I much prefer a jig, but there is not one lake or pond around me I can efficiently cover with a jig through the summer months.  It just gets too thick.

Soft plastic worm has caught more bass then jigs and spinnerbaits combined. #1 is the worm!, everyone can catch bass on them everywhere.

The Manifold Deniro Yugo Frame Glide Bait is the greatest lure ever.  And I can prove it.  It costs over $500.  Ipso facto, it is 100x's better than a jig.

A jig and craw has been my one of top producing baits for years now. I have to say jig.

Ok so what is it about a jig? I know a popular trailer is a rage craw. Well ive had way better luck with a t rig rage craw than a jig. Does the skirt make the bass like it better than a regular craw with no skirt? I dont see it personally.

A texas rigged Plastic worm seems to be more consistent than a jig for me but they are both top tier lures .

A spinner bait is a skirted jig

A buzz bait is a skirted jig

A chatter bait is a skirted jig

The skirt camouflages the hook, gives the bait color, the appearance of movement when the bait is still, and gives the bait a larger look to bass.

Yeah I still dont see how that makes it more effective than a T Rig.

More effective in what way? I wouldn't say a jig gets more bite than a Texas rig but in my experience it catches larger fish on average.

I have a rod with each ready to go. Plus a pitching jig, a swim jig, and a skipping jig.

I only have one rod with a Texas rig on it.

Uh no they ain't ?

Lead head, hook, & skirt does not make them a jig!

You don't have to see it...the bass says it makes a difference!

?????????????

uh yeah that’s the very definition of a skirted jig. How do you think they were invented. They are a modified jig.

?????????????

A safety pin style spinnerbait predates the modern skirted bass jig.

I'll still have to stick with a t rig worm. Jigs are great too, but so many guys struggle with catching bass on jigs. I know I had a harder time catching bass on jigs years ago.  A t rig worm seemed a little easier to learn.

According to Bassmaster Magazine, the spinnerbait is the winningest bait at the top levels.  I think that says more about fishing at that level than the baits themselves, or the typical avid bass anglers we see on this forum.

Personally mind you, T rig is more effective because its more weedless, so thus I have more confidence throwing it anywhere and to me its more versatile because you can rig anything on it. But that's just my opinion. Also I'm not a jig guy so maybe I'm biased, but maybe I'm biased for a reason, and the reason being I have done night and day better with a t rig.

I get it I used to feel that way about a jig...then one day jigs just clicked for me

Any pegged plastic is considered a Florida Rig.
