Brett's_daddy Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 So my son found this 3 bait kit in Walmart that comes with 3 clear plastic lures, a square bill, lipless and popper for kids to paint. It's made by Shakespeare. What would be the best markers for customizing these? I found those CS paint markers on TW but at $6 each that gets expensive in a hurry if you want more than a couple of colors. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted April 27, 2021 Super User Posted April 27, 2021 Sharpies come in many different colors - and they're pretty cheap. If you screw up too much, then a coat of flat white spray paint lets you start over again. option #B - I've got no clue what a cheap to mid-range air brush set up costs. If you plan on doing this more than once, the air brush set up is probably the way to go. It might be worth swinging by some pawn shops to see if anything is available. 1 Quote

Michigander Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 Yeah, Sharpies. You could probably clean them off with Isopropyl as the plastic probably isn't porous. And if you like them, then clear coat them and go fishing! 1 Quote
Super User Munkin Posted April 27, 2021 Super User Posted April 27, 2021 Dollar store sells paint markers in silver, gold, and red that I know of. I use them for stripes and gills on some baits. They are like$1 each and work better than those $6 CS Coatings ones . Allen 1 1 Quote
MAN Posted May 6, 2021 Posted May 6, 2021 You could go to Michaels or any hobby shop and get Createx paint...its just $3. Paint bait and then hit it with a hair dryer when done to cure the paint. Will last longer than markers and is what is regularly used for lure painting. 1 Quote
