neal13 Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 Any recommendations on well made portable rods? I have tested out several "telescopic" rods that fold down, and also have tested out two piece rods but have all have been bad quality. Any suggestions? Quote
Finessegenics Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 First off, welcome to bassresource! If you are worried about the quality of a 2 piece rod then I don’t know what you’ll say about the 3 or 4 piece options. A good rod is a good rod regardless of whether it is a one piece or two piece. What’s your budget and how compact do you need this rod to be when travelling? That can help us narrow down some options for you 1 Quote
Hulkster Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 St. Croix just released a series of Avid Trek 3 piece Travel rods. I would check them out. Alternatively the Avid does come in some 2 piece models. they should be excellent 1 Quote
Super User ATA Posted April 27, 2021 Super User Posted April 27, 2021 1-If you talking high end rods, Go with Shimano Shaula: https://www.amazon.com/Shimano-WORLD-SHAULA-2953R-3-Spinning/dp/B00ETCR6IY/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=Shimano+shaula&qid=1619527283&sr=8-2 2-If mid range rods, go with St. Croix trek. 3-Lower end rods go with Kastking Black Hawk 2. I have all of them and they really work good and no problem with any of them what so ever. 1 Quote
paleus Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 I got an Okuma Citrix 4 piece travel rod for backpacking. I like it so much, I use it all the time. It's probably my most used rod. It is just as sensitive as any 1 piece rod I have used. I have an Okuma RTX-25 on it. 1 Quote
txchaser Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 I have two of the fenwick HMGs - both spinning and casting. They come with two tips, so that's nice. For the price point (around 125) I'd definitely buy them again. Daiwa Ardito seemed like the best competition at that range. 1 Quote
UNC1078 Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 I have the Abu ike travel rod. I think it is a bit tip heavy, and it is not the lightest rod around. But, it comes with two tips and a hard case, so I like it overall. Quote
