It works. It’s what I use. Haven’t broken a knot yet, and it goes through my guides well. I’ve had a leader long enough that the knot is wound back on the reel and it’s posed no problem.

It it is extremely simple to tie.

I am not saying it's the best leader knot because I have not tried them all. But some saltwater guide buddies of mine swear by it and they are  after a lot bigger fish than a bass. So after trying it and having the same success that you have had, I have no reason to try anything else.

I regularly use 8 and 10lb braid with 8 and 10lb FC, and tie an FG without issue.

I'm curious why people have trouble tying the FG. I never had any problems, but it seem to make some people stumble.

I also haven't had any problems with the fg knot.  I did have a couple friends that had issues with it. The problem was once the knot is tied, the braid needs to dig into the leader. To do this I wrap the briad in one hand and the leader in the other. Then pull till the braid digs in

Only connection knot I use...

I keep meaning to try this but always forget about it when I need to tie on a new leader. This looks really easy.

It takes all of 30 seconds. It’s not a knot for, say, braid to mono backing, as you have to run the leader back through the loop. But for braid to a 6’ or 8’ leader, it’s easy peasy. And it’s not that big and it’s strong.

Right - I normally keep the leader line on the spool until I tie the knot, then cut to length but it's no biggie to precut it. Can't do that for backing, obviously.

I learned the double uni, then kinda gravitated over to the Alberto, but both are a bit thicker than I'd like. This Lefty Kreh looks like it might be a little smaller, we'll see. Certainly looks easier particularly for a guy with fat fingers and astigmatism.

I tried that FG maybe 10 times, think I got it right about 3 of those times, and gave up.

With the line that small why don’t use double uni knot? Easiest of the bunch. Less chances to mess up and as strong as other knot.

I used to use the double uni.  Most of the time when I needed to break off it happened right at that knot so I would need to replace the whole leader and bait.  I switched to the Alberto and now the break is almost always at the bait allowing me to keep using the leader.
