So last year I asked what water temp everybody throws a swim jig and most guys replied warm water summer months. Well in the past week I've caught 4 or 5 nice bass on a swim jig in sub 50 water. This is not an isolated deal either as I had the same exact result last spring and fall. Anybody else have luck in cold water with a swim jig?

Water temps don't determine if I throw a swimjig, the Bass do. It toss  em year round.

Swim jigs are adorned jig heads, the trailer is going to determine it's action, and there are trailers that will certainly work in colder water, that being said, I don't usually go to the swim jig until the water gets close to 60, I find a more reaction bite lure, like JBs, lipless, square bills and chatters are a better choice in the early pre spawn. Right now as the fish get more in the mood, plastics start to take over.

I feel weird inside when fishing and one isn't tied on within reach.  From about month ago in Michigan, water might have been 50 because of the rain...

Like with cranks, in the cold water I prefer something with a bit less kick like a menace Grub or a flat sided boot tail. As the water warms then I up the action to eventually something with crazy action or more kick like a rage craw or a Kietech.

That's crazy. Wow. Thanks for the info. When I got some pork frogs an older gentlemen told me to swim them on the back of some hair jigs he gave me. Early winter. Thought he was crazy, but seems I should have listened.

Swim jigs all season for me.

Swim jig vs chatterbait vs spinnerbait has more to do with water clarity, wind, and clouds for me than water temp.

I agree.  The CB and SJ can be fished to match just about any condition.  When the water is still in the low 40s I use creature baits on them and fish them on or near the bottom really slow.
