Why not just contact the factory and get a direct replacement from them?

I can’t speak for Megabass (don’t own) but for NRX & Conquest, I would use their Xpeditor program and get a new rod.  It is $125 for an NRX & $175 for Conquest.  I take care of my Loomis rods and have bought and sold a number of used rods over the years.  The resale is excellent but I wouldn’t pay near as much for a rod that has been repaired.

Try contacting the manu directly to repair or replace, or find a local rod builder that can remove and wrap a new guide.

Yes, or contact them to get the make and model of the guides used. Any rod builder worth his salt can make the repair indistinguishable from the original, if anything they may have to get a little sloppy to match the rest.

I was thinking about a mb destroyer I have and all the intricacies of the guide wraps. I wasn’t sure how many rod builders are up to the task of redoing a megabass guide.

DId you break one, or is this an academic exercise?  Reminds me of those "asking for a friend" threads.

I don't know % wise, but most of the ones we use can do incredible things. One of them is an OCD, anal perfectionist, that won't even let me fish with MY rod for 48 hours after he works on it. He begs to do intricate work, but we use straight winding, all black, minimum thread on our builds. It started as a joke, and became a thing.

Thorne Bros is my local go-to for that.  They make custom rods and are great at it.

I don't know if I can make myself wrap one as poorly as a NRX or Conquest.

Then you haven’t seen a Conquest.  They have a much cleaner finish out than the NRX.  I have never seen sloppy wrapping on a Conquest.

I don't think I can even drunk wrap as bad as this Conquest.

Don't get me wrong, I don't do fancy thread wraps on my builds either, but my wraps are tight.

I will admit, that is surprising.  I have had 3 Conquests and the finish was great on all of them.  Tackle Tour even commented that the rods were very clean and refined.  I haven’t had one in a while as I moved back to the NRX so maybe they have dropped the ball as the shine of the rods introduction has worn off.  I stand corrected.

I have to call this one out. I don’t believe in high end rods, because they are just about being expensive. But no way in the world a rod wrapped like that would ever make it to market from a factory owned by Shimano. I have many Shimano rods in many price points. None are wrapped like this. No way.

Ill have the owner post the pics then.  I have no reason to lie.  I've seen NRXs even worse than this and they are notorious for it.  Why is it so hard to believe that Shimano puts out crap too?
