Deephaven Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 I'd MUCH rather drink a Hamm's than a light anything at least it tastes like beer....not good beer mind you, but beer. I'm classically more of a high test sort of guy though. 1 Quote

I actually had a couple Hamms last night and it wasn't as bad as I remembered. Best thing is a 6er of silos at the gas station 4 blocks from my house is $4.50 $4.50 doesn’t even pay the sin tax up here. LOL 1 Quote

Light beer has its place and to me that is after yard work when it's a million outside and even then I'd almost rather have water...other then that no thanks. If I gotta drink light beer I'm fine with Busch latte. You guys on here talking up natty need to get your priorities straight! Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted April 21, 2021 Super User Posted April 21, 2021 I spent a few years in my 20’s living in a punk house and most of our beer consumption was 40oz bottles of Old English malt liquor. It was cheap and if you splashed a little oj in the there, pretty good. We could also walk a block and a half from our house and buy it at the local corner store and you can’t beat that level of convenience. Every spring I buy a 40oz of OE and drink it to remember those times. This year was different as, some how, the OE was amazing. Nectar of the gods. I have always liked fancy beers, but once a sixer got to be like $12-15 per, I more or less gave up on it. I think now I’m gonna be fully back on the Old English train and become a regular consumer again. The price has gone up like $.50 but it’s still quite a bargain. Quote
Super User BrianMDTX Posted April 22, 2021 Super User Posted April 22, 2021 A few years ago I had Cheap Beer Summer. I bought a six of beers I recalled drinking in my salad days. Miller High Life. Budweiser. Pabst Blue Ribbon. Rolling Rock. National Bohemian (Natty Boh), Natural Light, Busch, Coors Banquet and probably a couple of others. It made me remember what watered-down commercial American suds tasted like when I was a lad. And why I stopped drinking it lol. Life is too short to drink cheap beer. Except ice cold Coors Light goes well with hot steamed crabs. That’s a given. Quote

Don't forget 12Horse Ale for that special occasion! The kids are all over the Ruby Kolsch. I actually don't usually drink anything with alcohol in it anymore, but I hear it's really good. If I'm actually gonna drink something it'll be a super fancy cocktail like a Moscow Mule, or a better beer. I liked 12-Horse and the Bock beer back in the day when they were available. The Genny Brewhouse on the river has just okay microbrews, but the food is good. You can still get those little barrel bottles. Quote
Allen Der Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 I like craft beer but my go to macro is Hamm's. Pabst Easy is good too but hard to find. Tecate is my favorite cheap import If Yuengling lager ever becomes available in IL I'll add that to the rotation too. Quote

My buddy lives in Indiana and when he came to visit a few months ago he brought Yuengling. I was impressed. Quote
