It's bad enough that this country has privatized most of the water, making it difficult to fish unless you have a boat on a public lake, but for cities to shut fishing down completely is an atrocity. It won't be long until we're really fighting for the right to fish with the aforementioned problems and states going after lure products citing hazards.

Leave this city immediately and don’t look back

X2 any city that restricts basic freedoms like fishing of all things shouldn't have a population in it.

ask the city council to fill it in and make a playground- park out of it and see if that guy bill smith changes his mind about fishing it.

No one here can help you here.  Take it up with your local leaders.

I don’t  see any reason that us fellow anglers here at BR can’t show this man some support for what he’s trying to do!

Signed. Maybe reach out to MLF or BASS and see if they are willing to help. Good Luck.

BASS has their own problems with how they handle fish for a weigh in and then release them to die or half dead miles away from their spawning beds.

Help with opening and or stocking a retention pond? Not sure they would do that even if they were in better financial shape.

I was talking about helping from a platform perspective. The OP said his local fish and wildlife offered to stock the lake for free.

I'm not here to start a war between BASS and MLF, just offering a suggestion.

Did you know that one signature on the petition = one Karen getting bent out of shape?

Just say "no" to Karens, and sign the petition:

Literally nobody cares, Karen. Go to your vegan restaurant and pink hat marches and just shut it.

This  Karen is disturbed on many levels. Hooked babies and dogs.? Dogs eating fishing line? Releasing earthworms into the soil, or minnows into a lake?

God help us.

not for a war but if karen reads about how they handle the fish then she has something she can use against the bass organization and fishing for her benefit.

I had to Google "Great Lakes Worm Watch", because I thought there was no way that's a thing, boy was I wrong. Now I've been reading about worms for half an hour about exactly how a worm is dangerous to the environment. Most of it sounds like some serious reaching to say the least.

our city, in cooperation with game and fish, encourages fishing on city lakes. holds fishing derbies for inner-city kids. i think bass pro or maybe walmart gets involved and gives away free kids rods and reels. there is a real shortage of places for kids to fish from the bank, and a need to get more youth into the sport. there's your answer for the city leaders, they come across looking good to the naysayers.

I like your city. Sounds like a great place for the OP to move to

Hope you put this on ohiogamefishing.com as you'll get more local support.

As a former resident of that state for about 35 years, nothing could get me to move back.

I dont care if the Browns, Indians and the Cavs all win championships.

Too many hopes, karens and too much bureaucracy around tiny insignificant issues, when there is a huge drug problem, way too many homeless people and kids on the streets going hungry.

I signed but Shaker Heights says it all to anyone who knows that area.
