I have the Pelican Bass Raider 8.  I love it.  I use a 30lb Minn Kota on it and it works great.  They are very stable, with the added plywood I put in mine I can stand comfortably and fish.  It is light enough that I can load and unload it by myself.  But nine times out of ten if there is someone at the ramp while I am loading/unloading they will offer to help.  The only thing I can say is that if you plan to have more than just yourself I would go with the ten footer.  The eight gets a bit cramped with two dudes and all their gear.  If you have any specific questions just shoot me a PM!   ;D

Rich,

I have the Sea Eagle Foldcat 375 (two man) 3yrs and just ordered the

285 Frameless Pontoon. Just sold a canoe and have a Stratos 176 XT in the garage. Here in Central FLA there are thousands of small lakes and retention ponds that these inflatable pontoon boats give new access to. The 2 man (375fc) I also use to trout fish the rivers in N. GA, TN and NC. I carry my inflatables in the back of my Jeep Grand Cherokee. With room for tackle for 2 anglers.

One thing tho. don't believe the 5 minute thing. It's more like 15(and that's with an electic air pump), I must like it, I just ordered the 285 for the days I go solo.

The six month return policy was one of the things that sold me on the Sea Eagle products.

Don't know your financial situation, but if you can afford it, I can highly recommend the Sea Eagle.

PM me if you need more info.

wow.. the 285 fpb Pro Package looks perfect for what i would be doing! Will most likely wait till spring to order one since if i ordered it now it would sit around all winter which knowing me i would set it up and try to row around the snow in the yard!! haha

Thanks!

I've been thinking about a 10' version for a while, that way if a buddy wants to come there will be room.

I found one used locally with a trailer, battery, and trolling motor for $1200, but since it's the end of season I may be able to get it cheaper.

My pickup bed is only 5', so the trailer would be a great bonus.

I searched all summer for a small plastic pontoon. Went to several auctions and browsed Craigslist everyday. Boats with Tm and battery were going for $600 - $900 at auctions and craigslist was usually $400 - $800 depending on size. Got lucky a few weeks ago and found a 8' Sportsman Mini Bass Boat with 30lb TM and battery plus a Humminbird 525 fish finder for $400.00!!! It's been great to fish out of so far by myself. A little concerned about putting someone else in there though.
