I saw one on lake amistad

Ha. I mean, I'm just joking mainly.

But I did see an animal on the bank of a wildlife refuge lake about a month ago, and I have no idea what it was.  Thought it was a black dog at first, but it had a big beaver shaped head, and no ears. Was really strange.

I was out on the lake and suddenly I see this beaver walking down the shore on just its hind legs. It was carrying what looked like a shell in its front paws. It so reminded me of an old Godzilla monster in a monster movie in the way it walked into the water then disappeared.

I saw a Roland Martin youtube recently where the gators were def interested in the lure he was casting. I was surprised.

As for gators, I have been catfishing several times where gators were a nuisance. This is hanging limb lines from overhanging tree limbs and a weight with a hook and bait. We kept losing entire lines. Finally figured out it was gators and over time, it became apparent that they would watch us bait the line and lie in wait. When a fish got on the line, they'd go eat the whole thing and snap the line. When I was young, we never had gators here and over time, they have moved north and we have bunches now.

Caddo has gators?

And did you know the Covington's of Vivian?

Rod was in my LSU class back in the sixties.

Have not heard from him or found him on the Internet in years and years.

But really, gators in the greater Vivian and Shreveport areas? Maybe we need the Bossier City casinos to build on Lake Caddo and chase them away!

Geaux Tigers!

Last year I was fishing some brush around an island and saw quite the disturbance ahead of me.  I cast into it thinking it was a nice size bass chasing minnows or something.

On the second or third cast I see this large fish swimming right toward the boat.  It wasn't swimming fast, just taking its time.  It swam right under the boat and that's when I saw it was a huge catfish.  The cat had a crappie in its mouth and swam right into the coontail with it.

You normally don’t expect to see a Buffalo when you are fishing Lake Kissimmee in florida.

Night fishing from the bank years ago, I had a deer come within a few feet of me. I never knew she was there untill I turned on my headlamp. We looked at each other for a few seconds, and she raised her head to get a better smell. Once she got a good whiff, she jumped away and was gone in seconds. I once hooked a small bass at night on a spinnerbait. Getting the fish close to the bank, I turned on my headlamp to see a much bigger bass had been following. I've seen many shooting stars, muskrats, a red fox, and lots of bats around lights at night. Everything comes alive in the dark.

I know many in that family but not your friend. As for gators this far north, oh yeah, even into southern Arkansas now, I see them all the time there now on the river. BTW, I fished today and had one about ten feet following my boat as I fished. Sometimes it seems they are actually kinda smart and that he was waiting for me to catch a fish and he would then steal it.

I was once fishing way out in the Everglades in one of the canals that dissects the glades.  This canal had a solid rock edge, and suddenly a school of bass started chasing baitfish against the canal bank edge.  Suddenly two huge black crows arrived on the seen and landed right on the canal edge where the turmoil was happening.  These two crows ran along the bank edge for 50 yards, picking off baitfish driven into the shallows.  There was such precision, it was obvious it was not the crows first rodeo.  These birds learned this from watching the schooling bass, and made the most of their opportunity!  Crows are smart as hell!  What a day!

Lykes Hunting Ranch, they brought in all types of animals.  In the early 70's they put African Lions on the Island they own in the middle of Kissimmee.   After a bad drought the lions almost got off the island.  So a friend of mine, a police officer, and some other hunters were called in to help track, and shoot them, before they got off and killed someone around the lake.  He still has a Lion rug mount from that experience.  A buffalo is a pretty tame animal for these guys.

Looking for a handout, like big, fat, juicy marshmallows.

Once a human feeds them they will follow you around looking for a free meal.

Danger, danger, never associate humans with food, especially with gators.  The mouth you feed will bite you, and for a short distance blinding quick!  We see hundreds in a day in the everglades, and if you don't see them it doesn't mean their not there!

So just had this weird experience this weekend

Sunday morning was super foggy and I'm out at daybreak fishing a point

I feel like something is watching me and I look towards shore.

About 15 feet in the woods I see this......

A man in overalls with no shirt is standing next to a woman in what looks to be a nightgown.

It's like that american gothic painting , except he's got a pitchfork and she's holding like a wooden basket. About 30 minutes later, I see them on the other side of the point and it appeared that they were using the pitchfork to harvest dandelions on TVA property..... ?‍♂️

Normal activity for your lake. Strange/unusual things are SOP once you cross into union or Claiborne haha

One evening I was fishing with Lee, my teenage daughter. We were walking around a small pond on our property that is in the woods. So she shouts over to me, "Dad, a really big snake with a HUGE head just came out of the water backwards and is crawling up the hill backwards. It looks like a cobra!"  She is pointing to a spot about 50' from her. Well this made no sense to me and knowing snakes/species better than the average guy, I just had to see this snake. I walked around to where she was pointing and came up on a large painted water snake and he has got this really big bull frog by its nose. He is indeed backing up the hill trying to drag this big frog away from the water. Well that's about that time the snake decided he was in a precarious position with me standing there so he let go of the frog and together, side by side the snake (slithering)  and the frog (hopping) hurriedly made their way back into the water.

I have seen alligators, crocodiles, Florida panthers, Burmese pythons, cottonmouths, otters, and other animals in the places I fish in.

This x 1000

I have an app that tracks the space station . There have been certain nights where I’ve watched the space station fly from the coast of North Carolina (I’m in Massachusetts) all the way over and past Halifax. You can set reminder alarms, too.

Technology has gotten unbelievable...

X2, but some people think they are pets.

A prehistoric animal is not a pet.

One time, as a kid, I was fishing on a tiny dock next to the lake house I was staying at, barely one foot of water.  Light rod, bread bait, and tiny hook for pan fish, hammered them for hours.  Then suddenly, the entire school of pan fish darted away from my bait.  I sat there confused for ten seconds, wondering what I did wrong... then a 6 pound channel cat swoops in and chokes the bread and runs off!  Was able to hook him with millimeters of skin and landed the fish.

Several years ago my brother and I decided to take the kayaks out to an East Texas lake.  I was standing and pitching in about 5 feet of water and noticed a log in the edge of the weeds.  I pitched about a foot past it, the log slowly went underwater, and I realized it was a gator.  His bubbles went straight under my kayak and stopped about 20 feet past me.  I mostly fish out of the boat in East Texas now.
