michael1 Posted April 19, 2021 Posted April 19, 2021 Something I am curious about. Let's say I but a 3/16 shakey head. Does that weight refer to the weight of "just" the head or the total weight of the whole thing including hook? Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted April 19, 2021 Super User Posted April 19, 2021 Any 'jig' style lure - the printed weight usually just applies to the head...hook, skirt, etc are in addition. A couple manufacturers ARE putting the total weight on the label - but it's few and far between. This applies to jigs, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, buzzbaits, etc. 2 Quote
Bassattackr Posted April 19, 2021 Posted April 19, 2021 It's all over the place honestly. A 3/8oz Jackhammer is a lot lighter than a 3/8oz Chatterbait Elite. Jigheads are no different.. Quote
Super User Spankey Posted April 19, 2021 Super User Posted April 19, 2021 I fish generally a 1/16 oz. or 1/8 oz. shakeys. Been tossing the 3/16 oz. Rugby some but still out to lunch on that one. By the time I add the worm I’m pretty close to being a 1/4 oz. The Zoom Shakey Worm is about the lightest I throw. Quote

The two shakeys I use are 3/32 and 3/16. With a Zoom Trick Worm, the 3/32 comes in at about 9/32oz total, the 3/16 ends up about 3/8oz total. 1 Quote
