I have a hole in my rod selection, I don't really have a jerkbait rod.  I don't throw them that often so I'm interested in a high end rod (to me) that can pull multiple duties.

3/8 and 1/2 oz keitech finesse jigs - real small trailers, not much additional weight

1/4 and 3/8 T rigged worms of all kinds

 3-4.5" underspins or Texsposed swimbaits

jerkbaits

spooks

This is probably an accurate order of what baits will be tied on most frequently.

I have and love Dobyns Champion, Megabass P5 Destroyer, and Exprides.  I keep finding myself reaching for the Exprides though.

Any other suggestions are welcome, but I'm really looking for a "very sensitive" bottom contact rod that can pull double duty on a jerkbait at less than 7'3" in length.

It would be a great rod for the techniques you described if you are comfortable using the same rod for those particular techniques. I don't think I could use the same rod for a jerkbait and a 3/8 oz Texas Rig, but that is just me. It is a very versatile rod and should suit you well.

You need to remember that most jerk baits are 1/2 to 1 ounce in weight. And if your primary line choice is braid a moderate fast or moderate action rod is best for treble hook baits. If you are using mono or flouro you can use fast action rods.  The fast action or extra fast action rod is best for sensitivity.

The 611m+ is an incredible rod but I wouldn’t want to use it for 1/2oz jigs.  In my experience it’s ideal for 1/4oz jigs but a 3/8oz jig with a bulky trailer really starts to overpower it. Specifically, the Kietech jigs might be ok at 1/2oz due to the thinner hooks and lower overall weight, but that PA would never be my first choice for jigs that heavy.

I do agree with you.  There are times I split my gear up between my place in the city and the lake house.  This could help.  Also, most of my jigs are run on a 7'6" MH expride, 734 and the 735 Dobyns Champion, this would allow a different assortment rigged up at one time because I junk fish swimbaits and jigs in almost all of my location choices.  I also only keep a jerkbait tied on a few weeks in the Spring and Fall, maybe this rod would change that.

The 1/2oz keitech with a zman trd craw is a smallie smasher in the harbors.  It fishes really light to me but has the tungsten contact to read the bottom.  I know not ideal, but seems doable and probably even likeable?

I've been running braid to shock leader or mono.  One of the reasons I like braid because I can dial in the stretch with the leader and length, so to speak.

Thank you all for your responses and insights, much appreciated.

There’s a chance I have that exact jig and plastic sitting around the stash, if I do I’ll snap a picture tonight of the tip deflection if that would help you.  I know that I have a 3/8oz Keitech jig and the TRD Craws.

That'd be amazing, but don't put yourself out, I'm probably a week or two from ordering the rod.  These harbor seawalls drop straight into 12-25 fow with some current, and finding the rock transitions seem to find me the fish, hence the heavier weights.

No need to even pull the rod out:

The 1/2oz Keitech with that tiny trailer weighs the same as my "standard" 1/4oz jig. I had forgotten how small and thin the hooks on those Keitechs are.  Based on that, I would say that the 611m+ would be fine for that presentation.  It's not going to feel as powerful as an actual jig rod, but I have a few dozen decent 2-3lb bass on the rod with my jigs, which have the same if not thicker hook then the Keietchs.

If you want I can still get tip deflection pic later tonight when it's my "fussing with tackle over some beers" time.

Dude,

Perfect!  Does confirm how light that keitech finesse feels too.  I was super skeptical of that jig and hook till a couple weeks ago when I started sticking em.  It always seems to find the roof of the mouth.  Only missed a few, and those were operator error, really.  Now if the rocks would stop eating them...

you swing through Chicago, that beer's on me.

In the before-times I was up there a few times a year, hopefully I can be back soon.

I was also shocked at how light it was.  I bought a small pile of the Keitech jigs from ebay a year or three ago as I fish a single lead-ban lake.  So I have used them, but only a handful of time.

Now I kinda wish I had grabbed the other two lots the seller had...

I’ve got a dobyns champion 703c and I use it for lots of presentations. Light trigs and jigs are the main purpose, but I’ll throw paddletails, topwater, flukes, and lipless/squarebills.

it may not be perfect for everything, but it’s pretty darn good for lots of applications.

You're certainly right.  I have the 734, 735, 706cb, and the 807swbt, and I love them.  The champions are really really good.  I just find myself gravitating to my 2 exprides, something about the soft tip transitioning to the blank feels crisper to me.  Makes me want to step up one level to the adrenas, because I'd probably stick this selection of rods out for a couple years.
