bearbassman Posted April 19, 2021 Posted April 19, 2021 I am an avid backpacker and previously frequently used a two piece casting rod for backcountry/ travel Bass fishing, but it's not compact enough and I snagged and broke it while hiking in on the last trip. I am now looking at either the Megabass Triza 3 piece in MH vs. the Shimano Scorpion 5 piece in MH which are both much more compact and higher end. Anybody have any experience/ feedback with either or both...? Pro's vs. Cons of either.? Weight, sensitivity...?? Any insight or recommendations of these or any other models besides these two would be greatly appreciated Quote
Born 2 fish Posted April 19, 2021 Posted April 19, 2021 I’ve used this one for about 4 years now and it’s been great for the money. It goes to Florida with me every year and has hauled out some good bass. https://www.amazon.com/Fiblink-Graphite-Baitcasting-Portable-Baitcaster/dp/B019TWHQVU/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=fiblink+travel+rod&qid=1618828447&sprefix=fablink+tra&sr=8-4 Quote
Hulkster Posted April 19, 2021 Posted April 19, 2021 I have two different models of the Loomis Escape travel rods, they are 3 pieces and come in a rod bag and hard PVC rod tube which can fit in the largest suitcase for checked baggage diagonally. I have the 6'9 MH spinning and the 7 foot M spinning. You can also get them in baitcasting versions which is pretty cool they are not cheap but they are awesome. that being said, St Croix has come out with the 3 piece Avid Trek rods in 2020, which should be great also. Avids are great rod blanks. Worth looking into. 1 Quote
