It's been super effective for me this spring................................at catching pike.  Three of them have completely exploded out of the water crushing it, heart stopping but wrong species.

So far, 7 northerns and 2 bass.  I still have the bait and it still floats, so I guess I can say it's well made.

awesome bait. i've had a bunch of bites on mine and even more followers. gotta figure out a way to get the big girl followers to smash it when it's at the boat.

Even if those girls end up just following, at least I'm positive I know where they live.

Try this - disengage the reel and let it free fall to the bottom. But be ready - I have had to thumb the spool hard and set the hook as best I could until I got the reel engaged. If it hits bottom, engage the reel and rip it up and let it fall back on a slack line. I will do that a couple of times. If that doesn't work, she was just sightseeing.

Wanted to like this bait, but after lots of hours and only 2 tiny bass to it's credit, gave up on it. Looks pretty, the results were just not at all what I'd hoped for.

No pike to feed them to here. My largest bass I caught on one would have been nothing more than a snack for one of those things.

You hanging weights off yours or using lead tape?  Stock, I get 2-3' down on the steady retrieve at most, but all my bites come on very erratic start/stop retrieve which keeps it much closer to the surface.

I hate catching the little hammer handles, but when they start getting big like that those are a blast!

Lead tape on the front hook. Just enough where is swims slowly downward, nose first.

I would not give up on it. If the pike are eating it now when they are the most aggressive. The bass will eat it later when they are most aggressive. Pike unfortunately are a tolerated species up here. By the way they are delicious if you feel the need for revenge.?

I have the original version of this bait and have only caught a few fish on it but I have not given it a fair chance as of yet.  I need to fish it more.  A similar bait killed it for me last weekend.....   The Megabass Vatalion.
