GoneFishingLTN Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 Is there anything Megabass makes that just isn’t better than the similar bait in other brands? 1 Quote
Jason.Domingo Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 I’m sure other brands work just as well. With Megabass, it’s how much money you’re willing to spend lol. I do love my Orochi Whipsnake and Destroyer Addermine though. Quote
GoneFishingLTN Posted April 16, 2021 Author Posted April 16, 2021 Do they though I bet there wiggle wart bait is just as good as the original Quote
Dens228 Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 The only MegaBass items I have are rods, nine of them, and jerkbaits. All I know is they were worth every penny. 1 Quote
Johnbt Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 "Is there anything Megabass makes that just isn’t better than the similar bait in other brands?" Beats me. How many of the other lure companies have gone out of business because everything Megabass works better? 2 Quote

Super User J Francho Posted April 16, 2021 Super User Posted April 16, 2021 Last I checked, they don't make a Pointer or a Sammy that works as well as the genuine article. That's okay, they have the Popmax. Quote
Dirtyeggroll Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 Twice I’ve cut off megabass jerkbaits, tied on a Cabela’s Mean Eye Jerkbait and caught a nice fish on the very next cast, one was over 6 and a half and the other was just under 5 and a half. I got them on clearance for $1.99 each. ?♂️ 13 Quote
SC53 Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 Don’t own a mega bass anything. I still catch fish and quality too. Maybe they just aren’t that popular here in Florida. Probably I’m just too cheap to pay $20-25 for a lure? 6 Quote

Sir Shamsalot Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 I was all set to buy a bunch of Vision Onetens at $25 a pop... then I read in multiple reviews on multiple sites of complaints of the bills breaking off. I looked at my 30... 40... plus year old lip sanded $3 Rapalas that still load the boat and thought... WHAT THE?!?!? I bought a couple, but for the price, they should have came with fish attached, fileted, and cooked in a tasty beer batter. 1 3 Quote

Super User Catt Posted April 17, 2021 Super User Posted April 17, 2021 The question for me is what does Megabass make that's better than what I already throw. Answer: Nothing! Stanley spinnerbaits are hands down better than anything Megabass could dream of making. I'll take 6th Sense, Norman, or Rapala over any Megabass. Buzzbait! Cavitron & it ain't close! Rods? Rotflmao ? 7 Quote

I also think most people would never recommend throwing a pink jerkbait. Nice fish! Quote
Super User Bird Posted April 17, 2021 Super User Posted April 17, 2021 Throw nothing but Luck E Strike Jerkbaits and catch fish. Can't imagine that Megabass is $17 - $20 better. That said, even though Megabass is quite expensive, Suspending and top water Jerkbaits is what I consider longevity baits.....not easily lost. 1 Quote

I still throw alphabet baits ? 1 Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted April 17, 2021 Super User Posted April 17, 2021 I think I only have poppers and cranks. As for the Pop X and Pop Max, they're the only poppers you need, they pop and walk as well as anything and since I don't lose too many, I can argue they're worth the extra cost. The S-Cranks don't always work as well or better than other cranks in certain situations, but when the bite is on they work amazing. At some point I will have to try some of the jerkbaits. Quote

MGF Posted April 18, 2021 Posted April 18, 2021 I don't own any megabass. There's no real reason for that. I just never came across it when I was looking to fill a "need". I started using suspending jerk baits kind of by accident. My wife and I were using a lot of floating and count down Rapalas. She was in the fishing department of a local store and they didn't have either but they had some x-raps. We started using them and catching fish on them before we even knew what they were. Then we got some husky jerks when they didn't have x-raps. Other than the feathered rear hook I'm still not sure I know the difference. 2 Quote
Shimano_1 Posted April 18, 2021 Posted April 18, 2021 Like everything else opinions are gonna be all over the place. I love everything I've ever used by megabass. If a guy doesn't wanna spend the $ I totally understand. Just don't act like they're not good or can't be "better" because you don't wanna buy em. I put off trying one for years because of the price. I now own many. It's a rabbit hole for sure. If you're not ready to buy many don't buy one. Tell urself they're not better and enjoy not knowing 2 Quote
E-rude dude Posted April 18, 2021 Posted April 18, 2021 I own several megabass crank baits. They work. Just like all the other crank baits. I don’t think it’s a magic potion. Quote
