Super User jimmyjoe Posted April 13, 2021 Super User Posted April 13, 2021 No matter the season, no matter the weight and power of my rig, there are two lures that I always have. One is the Dardevle, from 3/16 up to 1 oz, The other is a spinnerbait, from 1/8 oz. to 1/2 or 5/8 oz. I'm not saying that I always catch fish on them, or that they catch me more fish than some other lure on a certain day. But all year long, day in and day out, they are the most reliable and repeatable lures that I've ever used. jj Quote

walleyecrazy Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 My all time favorite lure would have to be a jerk bait. If I have a chance to fish one I am using one. 1 Quote

Super User Fishes in trees Posted April 13, 2021 Super User Posted April 13, 2021 Too many to name. That's why I'm a "junk" fisherman and carry 20 or so different rigs in the boat. And those 20 or so rigs change some from season to season. To address the posters question - these days I'm favoring higher tech Ned rigs and/or throwing various plastics on 10 lb line with my finesse bait caster rig. Most of the time I'm using a Brewer Slider head to rig the plastics on. At some point this spring I'll spend most of an afternoon throwing an old school Berkley "Frenzy" lipless crank over gently sloping shallow vegetation beds. I'll be planning too catch 1 or 2 fish in the 20" - 22" range. That's the current plan anyway. Quote
Ski Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 For me, it's gotta be a Senko or a knockoff of. Weightless, light weight texas, Carolina rig, Flipping & pitching or Wacky. Does not matter. One of my rods will always include one on a trip. 2 Quote
Bubba 460 Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Favorite baits?... yes, I think everyone has a few baits that have produced for them over and over and get top billing on their boat. Of course these favorites change with the seasons somewhat but some produce all year. I'll list my go too lures in no particular order and start with the jerk bait because I have so many. The Shadow Rap and Shadow Rap Shad ~ I have two large boxes plus a stash at the house. Probably have 40 or so. I have caught a ton of bass on these, big and small. They work best in colder water but still an all year bait. I have many other jerk baits as well (big and small) but I like the action of the Shadow Rap. The down side of the "raps" are weak hooks (bend or break) and the body can crack easily. Whopper Plopper 130~ Wow, what a killer bait and about as fun to catch a bass on as anything. If your an adrenaline junky this is the one for you. Spinner baits/chatterbaits ~ Old faithful, gets the job done a lot of the time. Cast and reel with a few "pops" thrown it. Slow roll it in cold weather burn it in the shallows. Skinny Dipper and variants to include flukes ~ Meat and potatoes fishing. Must have. Big 10 inch+ Texas rigged worm ~ Down and dirty. When you want a big bass or things are a little slow this set-up has a good chance of changing your luck. Frogs of all kinds ~ In the thick of it, pads, grass, lay-downs or shallow shorelines. Frogs spell fun. Buzzbaits ~ They have their days and cover a lot of water fast. 5" Senko ~ Straight up or wacky, don't leave home without it Ned rig and jigs ~ Probably my least favorite to use but at times that's the ticket. Big swim baits ~ Oh yeah. I throw the ones I can afford. You don't need a $300 bait to catch a fish. There are plenty of good baits for under $50 Anyway, these are a few of my personal favorites... so why do I have all the other thousands of dollars in lures ~ something to do with a monkey I hear. 1 Quote
Biglittle8 Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 1/2 oz Ratl-Trap, assorted jerkbaits and Texas rigged anything. Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted April 13, 2021 Super User Posted April 13, 2021 My favorite bait is the fish's favorite bait. 1 Quote
NavyVet1204 Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 As far as soft plastics go I will second your choice of the sweet beaver both in 420 and green pumpkin because I have had a good bit of luck with them both pretty much equally on a weightless T-Rig. Zoom trick worms, especially black, scuppernong, and June bug have kept their places in my shakey head line ups. Quote
cdlittle Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 The one bait that I always have is a 3/8 swim jig with a 3.5" Swammer. I even have a rod/reel that is dedicated to this setup and never has anything else tied on. Quote

CrankFate Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Very rare for me to not throw at least a few casts with a crank bait. They work the best for me overall. Quote
MAN Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Mine's going to be the zoom fluke. I do enjoy when these threads pop up and someone says...my favorite go to lure of all time is....."insert lure that has been on the market less than 1 year". 1 Quote
