I will not buy a Vanford going to keep my original Ci4 1000 disappointing to buy a new reel and it has one felt washer in the drag stack.  Honestly I don't think the ci4 line or the Vanford reels are that fantastic, what they got going for them is they are very light.

I know this will ruffle some feathers but the Piscifun Carbon X is light and a fraction of the price. Also has triple disc carbon washers. Just saying ?

Good to know thanks, now let make it own topic, shall we ???

I upgraded all my CI4+ to Vanfords and couldn't be happier. Rotor inertia is next to nothing and I've never used anything so smooth. I'm sure upper tier models like Exsence, Vanquish, & Stella would be more refined but I can't imagine how.

@The Bassman

The differences between Vanford and Vanquish - Vanquish has titanium bail and magnesium body, which gives it bit more stiffness - otherwise, drives and rotors are the same.  Stella and Exsence share the same magnesium body and rotor - Exscence has the same aluminum drive as Vanquish and Vanford, and Stella has stainless steel drive.  Neither Stella or Exscence have the extreme low inertia and weight of Vanquish and Vanford.

And since I'm here, my pimped Vanquish

   I don't believe anyone "has to" upgrade anything. It's more like they "want to" upgrade.

   And $250 isn't much:

Your reel only has a single felt pad. This is pretty much the norm for a 1000 size reel because they aren't intended to be used for more than a few pounds of drag. You get a multi stack drag on 2500 and larger. size reels.

I rely on my skill to land any size bass more than just one or two felt pads.

So line, reel and rod are irrelevant?
