Super User retiredbosn Posted September 12, 2009 Super User Posted September 12, 2009 I know I should have heard this, but the starter's bendix didn't disengage. I was furious that my boat was bogging down and not running right, so I shut it off to and pulled the cowl, metal shavings were everywhere, and the bendix (gear on top) of the starter was nubs, could not re-engage flywheel to turn boat over. Has any one had this happen? My boat wouldn't power up or anything and barely ran, I thought I had a power pack going bad. I have replaced the bendix with one I had here and the boat is running fine now. What would cause the bendix to get stuck like that? Quote
fishn hard Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 What motor is it? My Buddie owns a starter shop and he says that i should keep a little oil on the Bendix's gear shaft Quote
