I only throw Huddlestone Swimbaits when it comes to boot tail, Get the 68. It is 6" and have tail of 8".

Boot tail is a patent term for Huddleston Deluxe Swimbaits. Paddle tail would be a smaller Keitech swimmer or Hollow body swimbaits.

Boot Tail agree Hudd 68 orc8” and Optima Butch Brown 6” and 10” Thumper Tail.

I never knew the difference between boot or paddle, I think @WRBjust cleared that up

actually that is not correct.  Boot tail isn't a trademarked term.  swing impacts and rage swimmer type swimbaits are technically boot tails.  most people use paddle tail incorrectly.  a paddle tail looks like this

Bitter's 5" Paddle Tail Worm is build for flipping and pitching in heavy cover.

A sleeper is the B Fish'n Pulse-R.  They are fragile but they work for every species that swims around here.  It's my favorite river bait.

I love(d) the Berkley Havoc Grass Pig, but they don't make the Havoc baits anymore.  There is a now a grass pig in the Powerbait lineup, I believe.

BP Speed Shads and Keitech Easy Shiners are the two I use the most.

Gotcha. In that case my favorite factory made boot tail swimbaits are by creme . I like hand pours the best but not easy to get

i use tons and tons of these especially 2 in and 2.5 inch. Little joe thumping shad used to be the best ones, then zoom made the exact same ones for a while. Honorable mention right now goes to cable’s/BPS sassy shad style boot tail bait pictured here

Look at BassTrix Hollow body “paddle” tail swimbait.

At one point in time we call a paddle worm what you posted, then it became a beaver tail. This why terms matter. Remember the Sassy Shad, we called them kick tails in the-70’s.

Yeah I thought the Hudd tails were referred to as "Vortex"

I would call the worm above a paddle tail worm, and I have caught many bass on them.

The Keitech Swing Impact, I would call a paddle tail swimbait. Love those too.

Try a Google search for:

paddle tail swimbait

and then

paddle tail worm

To me, it's an exaggerated/oversize paddle tail swimbait.

Which one looks like a boot and which one looks like a paddle?  Why would a paddle tail worm and swimbait have different tails.  At some point in time the terms became interchangeable but boot tail is the correct description for a swing impact style bait

If my lure looks like a boot, I feel like I've taken a wrong turn somewhere

I would suggest that there are also regional differences in what things are called. Marketing speak gonna have us tied up in fits.

LOL, probably need you to be more specific on the type and size of swimbait you're talking about ;~)

Seriously though, if you tell us what you're using, that will let us match-the-hatch so to speak.

For me, that could be anything from a Megabass 10" Magdraft all the way down to a 2.8" Keitech Easy Shiner on an 1/8 oz ballhead jig.
