I’d go with either the Curado, brand new.

Or a 16 Metanium if you want to go used.

I usually like to go new (or at least newer like within the past 3 years) so even though that Metanium is, well...a Metanium it IS almost 20 years old...even if it is in really good condition. Wouldn't you think the technology has improved in the past 18 years too, giving the Curado MGL a slight edge?

I was looking into the new Curado 70 MGL but ended up buying a Met B for $285 and several Bantams for $260 from Japan

I own a Met 13 that is near mint and a Curado 70 MGL. I upgraded the handle and knobs on the Met and it is my spinnerbait reel. Great reel. That being said, I wouldn't pay $230 for that reel or a 70 MGL. I think I paid $180 for my 13 Met and $185 for my 70 MGL.

All that said, I like the 70 MGL more than the 13 Met.

I can get a nearly new Chronarch MGL for about $200, maybe I should go that route.

The Chronarchs are great reels, but personally I would take the Curado MGL over a used Chronarch.  I wouldn't be shocked if Shimano has a new Chronarch in the works for 22 or 23, not because theres anything wrong with them, but because the design is going on 4 years old.

Have you considered going JDM?  You can get a 20 Metanium for $300 or less and its more then worth the extra money.

To me,

13 Met USDM would be good for moving bait.

Chronarch would be good for all around, 12-15lb FC line or 30-40lb braid.

Curado MGL bottom contact wit 8-10lb copolymer or pitch and flip with 30-40lb braid.

How do you plan to use the reel that how I would make decisions. I like small most comfortable to palm for bottom contact.

The Met is actually a JDM model.

I’m not sure if the 13 or 16 Met that have USDM with 150 size spool instead of JDM 70 size spool. Line capacity might be another factor if you plan to use larger than 12lb copolymer, 15 FC.

The Met is huge compared to curado 70.
