This question gets asked every so often and I have had a few experiences dealing with Shimano and their warranty dept. this last year. I want to share what I have went through in the last year. The first time I had to send a rod back was early spring of 2020, I broke a Zodias rod at the tip because my braid had wrapped around the tip, I was hung up and tried to free it and the tip broke. I sent it back with no receipt and explained what happened. I had a replacement in about 2 weeks. Then, about a month later I was fishing with a 6'10 Crucial that was probably 10+ years old. I think my buddy stepped on it but I can't be sure. Anyway, it broke smooth in half when I got snagged and tried to free it. I am 100% sure the rod was compromised in some way. I was hesitant to send it back because I didn't feel like they owed me anything. I did end up sending it back obviously with no receipt and they replaced it with a Curado rod in about 3 weeks. Then in the fall of 2020 I broke a Poison Adrena on a hook set. I have set the hook the same way for 25+ years and I have never heard a rod explode like this rod did. It broke into 5 pieces. I sent it back with a receipt, pictures and a full explanation of exactly what happened. I waited about 2 months before I sent my first email. I sent probably 15 - 20 emails over the next few months and I NEVER once received a reply. I was upset, but I figured that was just the price of doing business. Today I get home and there is a rod tube under the car port. I knew I didn't order a rod so I was confused. I got out of my truck and noticed the tube had been basically broke in half. I read the label and noticed it was from Shimano Warranty. My heart sank as I was sure whatever was in there was broke. I took pics and proceeded to open the tube. To my surprise there was a brand new Poison Adrena in excellent condition. I looked it over 25 times or more and there is zero damage to the rod. Shimano came through again but the lack of communication just kills me. They sent me an email with the Zodias but I never heard a word on the last 2 rods. I do feel like 6+ months is a little bit long to wait, but when you get a replacement on a $360 rod, it sure makes you feel better. I hope this helps those who have questions about Shimano and their warranty.

So far I got two replacement from Shimano for my Crucial gen 1 and 2. The first one, I dropped off the rod myself and second time I just mail the rod in (Covid-19). Shimano shipped replacement rod to me no question ask. Lucky me I still have 3 crucial left which carry limited lifetime warranty, but the bad part is Shimano ship Curado as replacement.

I have had great experiences with Shimano Customer Service with both

rods & reels. No issues just excellent service.

I just pay for the expedited service and things get done in a few days. I’ve also had great service on Fenwick HMGs.

Shimano/G. loomis service was a little backed up in 2020 like everyone and their communication isn't always great if you have a long wait on a specific model but they always come through! Killer company

had to wait around 3 months for my 72mh expride replacement. I sent in the rod with the warranty form and received an email a few weeks later with an expected wait of 5 months

I just had a Zodias break after only two months of having about 5 inch’s broke on a hook sent along with my line breaking ie: losing the tip of my rod, I have the receipt will they replace that even though I don’t have the tip, and so y’all cut your rods in half to ship them?

Thanks for posting this, found it in a search of the site.

I unfortunately snapped my Poison Adrena yesterday on a hookset (in all my years of fishing this has NEVER happened).

Well, I can't find my receipt so don't know if warranty will work or not. Should I even waste the time and postage sending it back to Shimano?

For an almost $400 rod, I would waste my time and take my chances. They might just take care of you.

Shimano has exceptional warranty.  I’ve used them to upgrade rods.   I’ve had older models kicking around collecting dust.  So I’d call up Shimano and ask them to upgrade.  They sell you the newest version or next step up model for 50% off msrp with free shipping and return.   They’ll mail the new rod out ASAP and you just return the old rod.   ??

I just sent off my Nasci FC 3k. It was making this odd noise like my drag was getting pulled while I was fishing.

I know we live in covid times, turnaround times have changed but am I looking at 2 weeks or so before getting anything back?

I've only had to use their warranty once. It was fast, easy and hassle free. They rarely respond to emails but if you pick the phone up it takes literally maybe one minute to talk to an actual human that will help you.

Possibly. Highly unlikely. 2 months or more isn't out of the question, and you won't get an answer to that question. It'll just show up one day.

@TBAG Just curious if you did end up sending in your Poison Adrena and what happened there. I'm having the same decision to make, so it made me wonder what happened. Thx, sorry to resurrect an old thread.

Call first, don't send the whole rod back on your dime, they'll instruct you.
