Ok so were looking to up grade from our 18ft procraft with a 125 mariner out board to a 2002 triton tx21 with a 2002 mercury 225 efi. the boat is in amazing shape. the only problem is the electronics don't work. no problem. we've got our gps and side imaging were taking off our other boat. Its only costing us 12,995.00..

Is it a good deal?

Is there anywhere that specializes in boat loans?

Would you drive 23hrs to go get it?

I just bought a 2002 tr-21 dual console with wood grain in may and it was in excellent condition with a 225 hp merc efi and all the electronics worked good they were both lowrance depth finders with gps 1 was color the other was not and I paid 17k for it! sounds like a steal to me if everything is in good shape! I would get him to get you a print out on the hours on the motor for sure and see just how hard and how long he has been running it!

Sounds like a great deal.  I recently got  2000 TR186 w/150 for 12k.  The boat was in mint condition so I didn't mind paying that for it.  Just be sure you check everything out, spend the money to get the motor checked or at least check the compression youself, and have them take you for a test drive.  Good luck.

Credit Unions. They normally will have the best rates and they tend to loan on the older boats.

Definitely shop the rates and have a backbone with them. I financed about 1/3 of my new boat. Without going into details I have a very high credit rating, the amount I was financing was very small.

The bank I have been doing business with for the last 8 years, tried to get me to do a credit card or personal loan (at 14%). Then tried to tell me I had no equity for the loan, I reminded him about the BOAT whose invoice was sitting on his desk, and the total value was WAY above what I was financing. Anyway I had to leave and pulled all my accounts out of the bank. The boat dealer could only do 10 yr financing. I ended up going to a credit union and small bank and the credit union beat everyone. The small bank was nice though too. So look at the credit union or small hometown bank and go in with the terms you want. If they cant do it, walk

Sounds like a good deal to me i would drive 23 hours to get it. I would love to have that boat. My boat is a 1976 Bummble Bee with a Merc 140. I bought it for $1300.00 and knock on wood have not had any trouble with it in the year i have had it.
