If you're an older person I would recommend sitting down. There's an old timer who fishes a pond here for bass and he always brings his lawn chair lol.

Personally I like standing.

Not sure what being older has to do with standing or sitting? I watched a 63 year young man do a backflip on a trampoline Easter Sunday, something I can't do, pretty sure he'd be fine to stand and fish. One of my regular fishing buddies is 31 and can't stand more than a hour or so before his back hurts so bad he has to take a break, I wouldn't consider him an "older" person, but I'm a few years older than him so maybe that's why.

I stand in the boat, mostly sit in my kayak but I'll stand if the conditions allow.

My apologies for not being specific, by older I mean people in the 60s+ range. Many who probably can't stand for very long periods of time like they used too, there's always exceptions like you mentioned. I have a friend who's 25 and is a big couch potato when it comes to fishing hahaha.

As a kayak fisherman I have solved your dilemma.  Since God made my butt a lot bigger than my feet I figure He expects me to use it a lot more.

LOL, things old people do.  The old timers session I skate at has some guys well into their 60s.

Standing most of the time. I'll start sitting when I'm frustrated that I can't find fish ?

I have sat all my life, even when I had a bass boat. Now that I have a jon boat , bass hunter , kayak , and canoe I still sit. Only stand up to stretch occasionally in the Jboat or bass hunter. The older I get, the more I fish out of the hunter- more stable and has seats I can lean back on to support my lower back.

I stand while bank bass fishing, but sit for bream/catfishing off the dock.

I stand up more in a 14 foot jon boat than I do in my 22 foot Lowe . The jon boat is hand controlled and the Lowe foot controlled . A recessed foot pedal would be nice . I have a cable controlled and its sort of like standing on one foot . Like everybody else . I use to stand and fish  in large waves ,

What's funnier is it's an old guy doing a feeble grind. The irony is thick.

I was watching an episode of Bill Dance and he recommended sitting instead of standing to fish . Which way do you fish, sit or stand?

He recommends that because he's old and quite clumsy, apparently. LOL When I fish from a boat I try to stand. But after a few hours I usually take some rests. But I usually fish from a kayak and sit the entire time.

I fish with my cousin and he has only one leg . He sits most of the time but sometimes he plops his stump on the seat and stands . I havent seen him fall in yet .

Depends- tournament day I stand and don’t even bring the butt seat.  Fun fishing I usually start with butt seat in the rear and I might move it to the bow as the day progresses.  Prefishing I have the butt seat in all day.  As I have gotten older this is something I monitor more.  If I am on a multiple day trip, I use the butt seat a lot more. Standing 8-10 hours several days in a row really takes a toll.  Wearing plush, high-end running shoes really helps as well.

What you might find as you get a little further down the road of life my friend ,

is that while father time is clearly unbeaten,

age is just a number.

We can choose what our own limitations may or might not be

by living a life style that promotes longevity.

So how we live when we are not fishing, can determine what happens when we do.

And it's never too early or too late to take steps to improve that.

I fish out of a kayak and planned on standing but honestly just got comfortable casting from a sitting position and don't really stand much at all. Granted, my balance isn't the greatest either. I do stand when bank fishing. But I'm always mobile when I do that. I walk the shoreline. near constant motion.

If you watched the tournaments from the early years of B.A.S.S. You’ll see he fished sitting as a young man

That was a joke, but it's hard to convey humor in words sometimes. But you've seen his bloopers where he greatly exaggerates his clumsiness. To be fair, in his very early days, he was fishing from an older Bomber style bass boat with a hand controlled trolling motor.

Stand while shore fishing.

I have a sit in kayak that doesn’t give the option to stand.

Boat fishing depends on the boat. If I can stand I will stand.

I watched a video of the first Classic, and it seemed all those guys were sitting most of the time.  Maybe standing in the boat hadn't caught on yet.

I see most here prefer to sit down to fish. I prefer to stand since I fish for exercise so I prefer to stand and walk while fishing. For me sitting down while fishing takes the sporting aspect out of fishing. Nothing wrong with that if your goal is just to relax but can't really call it a sport if you are sitting down most of the time.

I sit in a treestand 99% of the time bowhunting, and stand to shoot if the opportunity to stand without spooking the deer is there.

It’s a sport. So is fishing...while sitting. Guess what? Race car drivers and jockeys sit, too!

Fished most of my life from the shore, always stood.  Getting in the boat it ended up being the same.

Any activity that you sit for a majority of the time is not a sport for me. Active hunting is a sport, sitting down for hours by some baited private land area is not. Curling is more of a sport than any activity you sit down. At least with curling you are getting a good workout, same cannot be said for sitting down while bass fishing. With that said anyone can fish whichever way they want if it makes them happy which is the most important thing in fishing.

I'm guessing you don't hunt much, definitely not mammals.

I know this one fella that sits down while fishing 99 percent of the time. He's pretty good too, y'all might recognize him.
