David Austin Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 Anyone have any experience with the G. Loomis E6X Casting Rods? I stopped by bass pro today after work and was looking at them. Quote
Schuyler co Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 Yes sir, I have a 7ft MH Fast that I use primarily for jigs and T rigs...love it, zero complaints. 1 Quote
waymont Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 Great rods. I have the 782c mbr. Excellent for lighter baits. Quote
Super User WRB Posted April 8, 2021 Super User Posted April 8, 2021 E6X is Loomis entry level rods. There is a lot of competition at The E6X price point and expectations of owning acLoomis rod falls short. Tom 2 Quote

Tom I would agree and have to add if they slashed the price tag by about 33%, they'd be competitive. A lot of that is probably the cost to manufacture in the USA vs overseas. Quote
padon Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 they are ok. dont be fooled by the loomis name. you dont get to the real loomis experience til you get to the imx line.at the price point of the e6x their are better rods for the same or slightly more money. all just my opinion of course. 2 Quote

padon Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 i think the e6x is $199. for few more dollars a shimano zodias, st.croix victory, falcon expert. Quote
Hulkster Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 the 2018 versions are much better than the 2015 first generation. I have both. I have yet to see a negative review of the 2018 models which are lighter and better balanced than the first generation ones. but the 2015 models were hit and miss. That being said, i have a 2015 MBR903c that i really like. the MBR taper with the 7'6 length is awesome. Quote

Be using it mainly for spinnerbaits (mostly 3/8oz and maybe 1/4oz sometimes) and chatterbaits (3/8oz). Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted April 8, 2021 Super User Posted April 8, 2021 I have fished the E6X 783c along side the GLX version of the same rod. While the GLX is far superior in terms of sensitivity and general feel, the power/taper was very very close if not the same. If you know and love the MBR taper, then the E6X is well "worth it". The E6X wasn't bad per se, but for the money you can get a Dobyn's DX during one of the constant 20% off sale, you are close to an Expride, and in general the 200-250 range is very competitive. But again, if I was in the market in for a rod in that price range, I would consider an E6X because I do love the MBR. 1 Quote
waymont Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 I think people tend to be hard on the E6x rod for some reason. The redesigned rods are great, I didn’t like the first gen much though. Mbr and JWR tapers are my favorites, and would never complain about fishing an E6x version of them. I mostly fish imx and glx but slide right over, and feel right at home. 2 Quote

Super User FishTank Posted April 9, 2021 Super User Posted April 9, 2021 A buddy of mine fishes the EX6 rods and loves them but I'm not a fan of them. On the other hand, he did pick up the new version and he said it was a big improvement over the old one. I think, for me, the fun begins with the IMX. As far as alternatives, St. Croix Avid or the St. Croix Legend Glass for crankbaits. Quote
