Super User Boomstick Posted April 8, 2021 Super User Posted April 8, 2021 My take is for moving baits I wouldn't add a leader if it's only for lack of visibility and not for shock absorption. If you're throwing a vertical presentation, I would usually add a leader, especially finesse techniques but again on some days it might not even matter. Quote

Sometimes, ANY line of ANY diameter is noticed by the fish. Right down to the the line hitting the water at the end of the cast, or where the line enters the water. Some days it spooks them, some days they unfazed. Even others, they are attracted to it. Otherwise, I weight fishing the bait effectively in the cover present higher than any visibility factor. I've caught fish on 80# braid in crystal clear water. ^This. Quote
