Bigs Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 Is it worth all the money ? Anyone have these or sat in them ? http://pilotchair.com/cat-llebroc-gt-1-bass-boat-seating.cfm Im buying another boat very soon and I might go ahead and change seats as soon as I get it. They are pricey but I cant put a price on my back which has already endured 2 disc operations since I was 20, Im 33 now. Dont wanna have to go under the knife again. Im thinkin maybe these will help in the choppy stuff. Plus they look like nice quality. I cant seem to find a local shop that has any so i might have to buy them sight unseen. Aqua flex is the same company that makes the seats in new champion bass boats so they cant be bad. Anyone ? Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted September 6, 2009 Super User Posted September 6, 2009 Shock absorbing seats sound like a good idea to me. Think about the long haul trucks. Years ago, the cabs and seats were bolted onto the chassis. The drivers butts and internal organs absorbed the impact of every pot hole and rough road surface. Hence the expression, "rides like a truck". Then they started building them with the cab mounted on springs, and seats mounted on springs and shock absorbers as well. Made driving these rigs a lot more comfortable. The same principle should apply to boats. You are right, concerning your back. The less shock the discs have to absorb, the better. Now, if you could get one with gel seat cushions, you'd really have something. Gel cushions are very heavy, but they distribute impact pressures evenly, taking the stress off of pressure points. Bigs Posted September 7, 2009 Author Posted September 7, 2009 I dont know why more boats dont come with these kinda seats. Most boats I have been in ride like crap in 3 foot swells. And instead of tryin to find the biggest baddest boat to handle it all , wouldnt it be cheaper and more practical to get seats with suspension ? Makes perfect sense to me. Im tryin with google to find other seats like these but cant find much. They are common for big saltwater boats but Im not finding much in the way of bass boat seats . Guess I will go to a champion dealer locally and sit in them to at least get a feel for how they are. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted September 7, 2009 Super User Posted September 7, 2009 I put an Attwood SAS seat on the passenger side for my wife 4 years ago. She was having some back problems at the time. Honestly, it wasn't needed. The Champion boat ride is smooth enough in even measly 3 foot swells that any really good boat seat will give comfort. That's in a Champion though with somebody who's had a lot of experience running rough water. If you're that concerned about rough water running here's my suggestion.. Quote
Bigs Posted September 7, 2009 Author Posted September 7, 2009 Well if I could find a used Champ 203 within 600 miles then I could see for myself so for now Im only speculating at best. So whatever I do end up buying (Basscat or Champ) hopefully wont need these kinda seats and I can save my money. Gonna be test driving a 2000 Jaguar with a 225 opti tommorow and I have a funny feeling its gonna be a good canidate for these seats. Basscats arent known for havin the most comfy seats. I have sat in one which was a 2000 pantera classic and they were awful imo. The champ 203 in kentucky Im interested in needs new seats anyways according to the owner so in that case it would only make sense to spend a lil more on something like these. I wonder if the AquaFlex seats in the newer champs will also fit in a 2000 203. Anyone know ? For 520 bux a seat shipped , it doesnt sound outrageous when you consider what new seats cost. A decent seat is 250-300 bux anyways. Oh and nice salt rig, gonna be gettin a 20 foot CC in the spring for the chesapeake bay, those are a dime a dozen to find these days just lookin on craigslist. If only it was that easy to find a nice 20 foot bass boat > Quote

Bigs Posted September 7, 2009 Author Posted September 7, 2009 same company but the company that makes or patented the suspension is AquaFlex or at least thats what I gather. Kinda like gore tex lettin lots of companies use their material. Quote
Super User Way2slow Posted September 7, 2009 Super User Posted September 7, 2009 Llebroc's are the seats I have in my Javelin and they sit/ride great. I can't say about now but a couple of years ago they made the Stratos 201 seats, (and probably the Champion). Llebroc's was having a warehouse inventory clearance sale and I bought both front and rear deck seats and the full set (driver, passenger, and center seat) for a 2006, 201 for less than $500 with shipping. One of the deck seats has the Stratos logo but hey, for the price, I was not complaining. They even gave me five yards of matching vinyl to make butt seats that would match and to recover the back of the one that had the Strator logo if I wanted to take it off. The look very similar to the GT1 but are a solid light gray. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted September 7, 2009 Super User Posted September 7, 2009 A couple things. Attwood sells just the frames w/foam and SAS included if you want to take them to a upholsterer and have them done the way you want them. I believe the price list for that is available on their website or at least used to be. There was a feature on one of the fishing shows very recently featuring Rick Clunn and his suggestions on how to save your back from rough rides down the lake. He suggested taking a clue from the saltwater guys and putting a boat cushion under your butt while you're going down the lake. The idea wasn't so much the padding the cushion provided under you but more a matter of raising your butt off the seat putting you higher up. You can now extend your legs, which are now angled more downward vs straight out and use them to help absorb some of the blows thereby taking some of the shock off the lower back and spine. I used to do that running Lake of the Ozarks, one of the roughest lakes in the country to run during a summer weekend. My reasons though, were it gave me a little extra added height to be able to see. I never thought about the fact that I was adding my legs into the equation when I was bucking through some of the monsterous swells that happen on that lake. It actually works. Quote
R520dvx Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 Ranger has been using a SRS (soft ride seat) in the VX models for years now. They are an automotive type seat and make a big difference. I have them in my 520 Quote
Bigs Posted September 7, 2009 Author Posted September 7, 2009 My only concern would be with keepin my foot on the hot foot , is it even an issue ? I just got back from checkin out a 2000 basscat jaguar, I liked the boat but I have to admit the seats were awful. I do like the idea of gettin the seats without the fabric on them, I didnt see that on the site I looked at tho. Gonna surf the web a lil now and see what the options are. Did the champions from back in the 90's and up into 2002 have these kinda seats or was that recent thing with champ? I also noticed when I wa sout on a javelin last week, the guy drivin had a pad he was sitting on, I thought to myself, how much of a difference can that really make ? Makes sense tho for being able to see over the waves when your driving. Quote
Super User Way2slow Posted September 7, 2009 Super User Posted September 7, 2009 The seats that came in my Javelin sat low and kinda held you place but there was not much foam to soften the bounce when you crossed a wake at 75 mph. You found yourself using your legs to raise your butt up just a little or sitting on the spare lifejackets for a little extra cushion. As for keeping your foot on the hotfoot, I've never noticed that as being an issue. I've always had total throttle control with mine. Mine are the thick, molded foam like in the picture, there is no suspension system under them. Quote

Sfritr Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 I recently saw basspros tv show where rick clunn admitted to sitting on a bumper bouy during long tourney runs to help his back and to lift him higher to see better. Made sense to me.. A heck of a lot cheaper too. I agree with Cart, its kinda like getting an F350 and then complaining about gas mileage IMO :-/ Quote
