Jcj90 Posted April 6, 2021 Posted April 6, 2021 2500 shimano sahara on a 6’ light St croix triumph. Reel too big? Quote
garroyo130 Posted April 6, 2021 Posted April 6, 2021 I know I'm the minority on this but I don't place quite the emphasis on spinning reel sizes as on casting. I prefer slightly large spinning reels as I feel that they help minimize line tangles and help with further casting. So to answer, no. 5 Quote
Super User GreenPig Posted April 6, 2021 Super User Posted April 6, 2021 It'll work fine. I prefer a 1000 for a light rod but I'm petite. 1 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted April 6, 2021 Super User Posted April 6, 2021 I have both rigged, but prefer the 1000. 1 Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted April 6, 2021 Super User Posted April 6, 2021 My light rod has a 1000 size, my two medium-lights are a 1000 size and a 2000 size. Quote
Super User jimmyjoe Posted April 6, 2021 Super User Posted April 6, 2021 I don't use anything below 2500 size for bass. Crappie and panfish? Yeah, I use a 1000 size there, but not for bass. That's just my way. jj Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted April 7, 2021 Super User Posted April 7, 2021 It's a tad big but it will work. I go with a 1000 for braid and a 2500 for mono on a rod that size. Balance seems more important with spinning setups to me. 1 Quote
