clemsondds Posted April 4, 2021 Posted April 4, 2021 Hey guys, heading to a smallmouth lake this week. This past week water temp was 60. So I assume they will still be spawning. During this time, what have you found to be the most productive pattern? Do you go after pre and post spawn? Bed fish? Just trying to get a game plan. Most of my fishing will be at dawn and first hour or two. But then I’ll also fish some during the day. Thanks everyone! Quote
PaulVE64 Posted April 6, 2021 Posted April 6, 2021 Look for shallow rocky areas with shelves to deeper water. Throw a square bill until you find them then switch to a jig/ ned rig/ senko 1 Quote

Or do you do topwater (popper/wp) and then when suns up go to squarebill or what? Thanks for the advice! Quote
PaulVE64 Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 I like a topwater at dawn/dusk but i have as much luck throwing squarebills as i do topwater. I should have included a light tube jig too, smallies love them all day and you can fish them at every depth. Quote
