Chris Carey Posted April 7, 2021 Posted April 7, 2021 I used to throw them on the same rod, I now have a chatterbait rod because i throw it so much. They r not the same. The reason the glass rod is more ideal is because the connection point is on the blade that moves when the fish thrashes. The glass rod absorbs more of this helping keep them pinned, in addition the slower action of the glass rod helps keeps the hook back in there mouths further. The hook up has a great video explaining all this. Is the difference that big. Probly not, I caught plenty of fish using a standard m/h fast. 1 Quote

If people are getting away from MH/F for bladed jigs they seem to be going softer, ie composite or glass. You are going the other way to H/F. What is your thought process here? Quote

For one, this rod does not fish anything like what you would imagine a rod that length and power does. It has an excellent tip that transmits the vibrations very clearly. The top 1/3 loads and flexes well into the fish once they're on, and the rest of the rod has the power to drive the big hook and control a big fish. I've tried a lot of rods for them since they're one of my favorite baits and I catch countless fish on them every year, this one is the best I've used by a long shot. 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted April 7, 2021 Super User Posted April 7, 2021 Pretty much. I don't throw them enough to have any specialized gear so whatever I bring for spinnerbaits works for chatterbaits. Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted April 7, 2021 Super User Posted April 7, 2021 I'm not too terribly picky on what I throw spinnerbaits and chatterbaits on. A 1/2oz chatterbait with a heavy trailer goes on my MH/XF rod, but sometimes I'll throw them on my MH/MF rod as long as I'm keeping them moving. I have a M-MH/F Tatula Elite that may see some use this year as well depending what else I bring or don't bring on the kayak. Quote
Luke Barnes Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 I sure do. Made a setup just for it and haven't looked back. Quote

Had to go back and find this older video but you can really see what I'm talking about in my explanation of the rod in this short video. https://hammerrods.com/collections/elite-series/products/hammer-6-9-micro-baitcaster?variant=15434855645253 Quote
