Luke Barnes Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 What's everyone's go to for underspins or swimbait jig heads? I love the GYCB Zako for the segmented shad style and Berkley Power swimmers for paddletails. But like everything else there is so much to choose from and personal preference comes into play. I know Keitechs are great but tear easy, then there are a metric ton of ribbed swimbaits like them. Curious to see what everyone likes. 1 Quote
HaydenS Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 Rage Tail Swimbaits on the back of Berkley Fusion 19 underspins are fantastic. They are durable and kick hard. 1 Quote

00bullitt Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 I have always been a Keitech 2.8/3.3 guy. I have recently switched to the Zman Minnowz (3"). I would go through a pack of Keitechs in about 6-8 fish. I've already caught a dozen fish on 1 Minnowz and still going. They are super soft and have a great action too. $3.99 for 6 compared to $5.99 for 6 Keitechs that are good for 6 maybe 8 fish. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Z-Man_Minnowz_Swimbait_6pk/descpage-ZMANMNS.html 1 Quote

Ive never actually used a Keitech and dont really care to. I sometimes get too hung up on scented lures and the Zman arent but ive caught more on a TRD than any other ned bait. I'll check them out. I use the Dirty Jigs 3/8oz. Guppy Head with 1/0 hook. A dab of super gel keeps that thing in place. I do notice that a 3/0 hook impedes the action substantially. I used to be against using such a small 1/0 hook, but it hasn't affected the end result of putting fish in the boat; actually improved it. Quote
Emiliano Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 Keitech swing impact fat 3'.8" , Easy shiner 4', OSP Dolive shad 3'.5" - 4' 90% of the time paired with Owner twist lock Flashy Swimmer 3/16oz 3/0 hook Quote

I always think of the ribbed ones. How are they compared to the ribbed ones? They look nice. Quote
Emiliano Posted April 2, 2021 Posted April 2, 2021 I found the E.Shiner as more body rolling action/side to side movement compared to the fat impact and a subtle wider wobbling. Thinner body and no ribs shines in vegetation because it can slide better than fat impact IMO. 1 Quote
Super User GreenPig Posted April 2, 2021 Super User Posted April 2, 2021 Spark Shad & Z -Man Slim Swimz have been great producers for me. Keitech does work but I grew tired of putting on a new bait after every fish. Quote
BayouSlide Posted April 2, 2021 Posted April 2, 2021 Suicide Shad here, been working very well with Owner underspins. Quote

I have very similar hooks by SK. Belly weighted underspin and its great around heavy vegetation and wood. I plan on buying a few open hook underspins for clearer water and to increase hookup ratio. But these are nice when you want weedless. Quote

Super User Choporoz Posted April 2, 2021 Super User Posted April 2, 2021 Nearly always Keitech or Reins Rockvibe shad....though I am going to try out some Xzone Swammers thus spring Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted April 2, 2021 Super User Posted April 2, 2021 Just an FYI, Yamamoto Zako is now available in a paddle tail. I would not put the regular Zako as a stand alone because it lacks action but is great on a chatterbait. I would use the new paddle tail Zako as a stand alone or on an under spin. Quote
JWall14 Posted April 2, 2021 Posted April 2, 2021 4.8 Keitech and Owner Flashy Swimmer. Not an underspin but the Okashira head/ 3 in spark shad combo is DEADLY on smallmouth. Quote
dj1975232 Posted April 2, 2021 Posted April 2, 2021 Usually a 3.8" Keitech Swing Fat Impact on a Owner Flashy Swimmer. Quote

I saw those today online and I really like the black/blue flake green pumpkin one. I will probably pick up a bag. 1 Quote
