I've been looking at the Falcon BuCoo casting rod 7 foot Heavy action to purchase. I had another Falcon spinning rod a while ago that lasted me for years until I sold it. I was wondering if anyone has had any good or bad experinces with Falcon casting rods?

I have a 7ft 3in heavy-fast BuCoo. In my opinion it is closer to a medium/heavy.  Pretty decent rod for its price range.

It is my worm rod. The rod is light and relatively well balanced.

It has a soft tip but the rod loads pretty quick on hooksets.

I think it cost me around $90.00 a couple years ago.

I just purchased a Falcon Lowrider All ‘Round Fast MHF casting rod. I have a thread on it. It’s a fantastic rod!

In my experience Falcon Fast action rods have more of a parabolic bend than many.  Mediums I've used were rated 1/4-1/2 oz.  Everyone knows a 1/2 oz. spinnerbait weighs more.  I've pulled one upstream with my Medium OG Expert.  Put a nice bend in the rod, but it did it and I wasn't afraid of breaking the rod.

I recently posted this.  Customer service is great.  I fell face first into a pile of rocks and broke off two pieces from the tip.  Called Falcon and explained exactly what happened.  I got a new Cara for $80, (They were $200 back then.)  I felt this went above and beyond what was required of Falcon as it was totally my fault the rod broke.

There are a few on here using the BuCoo rods, and they have posted that they feel it is the best rod in its price range.

7’ Heavy is a Falcon classic better known as the “lizard dragger”. They actually two separate “heavy” action rods in a 6 or 7 power. I’m assuming you are probably talking about the 6 power which is more of a medium heavy by industry norms. I owned this rod in the Lowrider series and it’s a good all around rod. Strong backbone but soft tip. Great for texas rig, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, etc. The 6 is more designed for open water power fishing in my opinion. If you’re going to be around grass or pads and need some umph go with the 7 power. The 6 power’s sweet spot is around that 1/2 oz mark. 7 is more like 3/4 oz

I think the BuCoo rods are probably one the best rods at it's price point. The Falcon BuCoo is way better compared per say St Croix Bass X in similar catagory/price.

I don't think you can go wrong with any Falcon Rod from $100-200.

I have one. Medium/moderate that I use for treble-hooked stuff. It does the job. If I knew then what I know now about how I like to fish, I'd have gotten something else.

I will say it's been a tough rod, though.

This is right on the money.  Very versatile rods.   Just enough tip and backbone for almost any technique.

I haven’t tried the new bucoo but the old models have some of the best action and balance of any rod I’ve used.  The new low riders are just as great but with noticeable better sensitivity.   The Cara line takes it up to another level.   All of Falcon’s rod lines really seem to have a great cost to performance ratio.

The Bucoos are great rods in the $100 range. I've got 3 of them now and have been really happy with all of them.

Falcon has always made a good rod. They got beat up pretty good when they moved production off shore of the Cara's and Lowriders.

The old Expert was a great rod for it's time. I've  never fished the new ones.

My personal favorites will always be the Amistad ,The weightless worm rod which has always been popular here in the Ozarks as a jerkbait rod  and the finesse jig or old Eakins rod but I think they changed the taper of that rod over the years. It used to be super soft and was designed by Jim Eakins to pitch 5/16 ball head jigs . One of the guys at Falcon told me once he hated that rod but if it's used as intended it's great. But people saw it labeled jig rod and tried to drag 1/2 oz. football heads with it.

I think all of the Falcon rods are still made in the USA except for the HD series. They used to use blanks made in the USA too, but the supply fell through and they had to go overseas to have the blanks made. You're right about them getting beat up over it though, they still are. In fact I'm pretty sure that someone will be along shortly to prove it.

I'm pretty sure none of their rods are manufactured in the USA any longer. I have seen Made In China label on the Cara & Expert models, so I would figure all of them to be made in China.

The only Falcon rod I own is my C-Rig rod and I've yet to find a rod that works better for that application.

That's possible I guess. I see ads saying they are made in the USA. But then, their website doesn't mention it and I think they would be putting it out front if they were.

They used to be made at Ark Rod in Harrison AR.  I heard that they are now China made.

I have 2 Falcon Lowriders that I bought over the winter and they are really nice.  I have only casted them in the yard.  1 7ft All Around F and 1 6'7 they call the weightless worm.

I have 4 Bucoo SR.  I bought my first one when I had a Dobyns Fury for 2 weeks and it broke   I fell in love with them.  They are super light and sensitive.  I have the 7 MH MF.  Great spinner, chatter, lipless and deep crank.  I have the Medium I am using for light cranks.  I have the 6'8 Fast that I use for Jerk Baits and I just bought the 7'3 Heavy over the winter for C rigs and spoons.

I have the Lews T1 and like these much better at the price.  I can't say enough for how sensitive and durable they have been.

Hope this helps!

I have a few Falcons and love all of them. The only thing I don't like is the Christie and Bucoo have closed hook keepers and I prefer them to be open.

20 year anniversary Lo Riders -7' MH and 7'2" H

Christie 7'3" H

BuCoo micro -7'6" H
