AmmoGuy Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 Owner Twistlock Light 4/0. I don't even like fishing weightless senkos on anything else (other than wacky). Quote
KCFinesse Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 Senkos are expensive- I like using twist lock hooks as they extend the life of senkos. I buy hitchhikers and wide gap swim jig mold hooks and make my own twist locks at a much lower cost. Jig hooks run big when not used in a mold- I like the 2/0 or 3/0 sizes with a five inch senko. Siebert Outdoors Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 This little guy. Owner Twistlock Light cps. It was pretty much made for the senko https://siebertoutdoors.com/products/ols/products/owner-twistlock-flippin-hook-wnr-tws-flp-hk6 Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted March 30, 2021 Super User Posted March 30, 2021 I found that with twist lock hooks, the first time a fish pulls the Senko free, it rips the head and you either have to bite it and re-twist it which means you have to also re-insert the hook point and the next bite will rip it in half. With a thin wire ewg a lot of times the Senko will just run up the hook eye and be intact on your line above the hook. Just slide it back down to re-rig. 2 Quote

When I use EWGs, the hook ripped through the "head" of the senko constantly. Like almost every bite. With twist locks, I may catch 3-4 fish and never have the head rip off or through. 1 Quote

Which makes no sense as I use the Twistlocks on Super Flukes to great success and at times I fish them as slow as I would a Senko. Has anyone else had this kind of issue? I tried to make the Twistlock Owner work for 2 years and it seemed like I couldn't land anything. When I went back to 3/0 Gamakatsu EWG all was right in the world. I then tried the VMC 3/0 Long Shank EWG and, again, couldn't land a bass. I'm back to the Gammy EWG forever. Quote
