Kyle S Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 In the past I've always used a 4/0 Gamakatsu EWG for my weightless 5" Senko's. I've been experimenting with other hooks mainly to see if i'm missing out on anything, more specifically missing bites. So far I've tried a - 4/0 offset round bend - 4/0 finesse heavy cover hook The finesse heavy cover hook has been doing well so far. The only downside I've encountered has been it not being as weedless as the EWG i normally use. I do however think that my hookup ratio has increased slightly. Time will tell. Here is a picture of the finesse heavy cover hook i'm referring to. What hook do you prefer to fish a weightless senko with? Quote

Super User TOXIC Posted March 30, 2021 Super User Posted March 30, 2021 Your original hook is what I use. I use it in 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0. I stay away from “heavy cover” or “super line” hooks because they are too thick of wire and cause a lot more damage to the Senko when bit. 1 Quote

Super User fishwizzard Posted March 30, 2021 Super User Posted March 30, 2021 I use a 4/0 Gamakatsu EWG, but I really want to make a Twistlock Owner work, but the hooksets with them are awful, more lost then landed for sure. Which makes no sense as I use the Twistlocks on Super Flukes to great success and at times I fish them as slow as I would a Senko. Has anyone else had this kind of issue? Quote
00bullitt Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 Assuming Texas Rig and not Wacky or Neko; Gamakatsu "Mike McClelland" G Finesse Hybrid hook in 3/0-5/0 depending on the fishery. A cross between an O'Shaugnessy and EWG. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Gamakatsu_G-Finesse_Hybrid_Worm_Hook_4pk/descpage-GFHW.html If Wacky or Neko, the Owner #1 Sniper Finesse Weedless Quote
michaelb Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 I like the 4/0 or 5/0 ewg because the bigger hooks make releasing the fish easier if deeply hooked. I may switch to twist locks though because i do think the senko holds up and lasts longer. Quote
papajoe222 Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 For Texas rigging, weightless, I go with an offset, round bend worm hook. 3/0-5/0 I use the same hook for Flukes. I find that I hook up with the majority of fish with them. With any size worm weight, I go light wire straight shank Trokar 1 Quote

I use a 3/0 EWG for weightless Senko’s because I like the extra throat clearance and think they skin hook better. Also, that looks like the regular Gammy finesse hook which is a medium wire. Gammy also makes the Aaron Martens G-Finesse which is light wire. If you have confidence with that style but want something that is more Senko friendly, that is another option. 1 Quote
