Lefty76 Posted March 29, 2021 Posted March 29, 2021 Got the itch to throw the 8 inch Hudd again. Problem is that the jig hook constantly catches vegetation. Vegetation is really coming back since the Texas winter storm killed off all of the tilapia in the pond. Has anyone ever tried installing weed guard in the top of an 8 inch Hudd? Quote
Bass Rutten Posted March 29, 2021 Posted March 29, 2021 The weedless boogers from dreamsmasher swimbaits looks like they’ll work on hudds, been meaning to try them out, just haven’t got around to it. Quote
Lefty76 Posted March 29, 2021 Author Posted March 29, 2021 Thanks for the information. In regards to those weedless boogers, I am curious about the hook size they were meant for. Quote
Lefty76 Posted March 29, 2021 Author Posted March 29, 2021 I noticed that Tackle Warehouse carries these: Slide Off Weed Guard Anyone ever use these weed guards? Quote
Big Swimbait Posted March 29, 2021 Posted March 29, 2021 I think a heavy piece of mono like Mark Pack (RIP) does on his jigs would work. Quote
BlakeMolone Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 Could try putting a little piece of a soft plastic on the hook point, I’m sure a big swimbait rod would have no problem going through an extra tiny piece of plastic 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted March 31, 2021 Super User Posted March 31, 2021 Hitchhiker spring and piece of finesse worm works good. Clip on the worm and hitchhiker after tying on the Hudd. Tom Quote
Lefty76 Posted March 31, 2021 Author Posted March 31, 2021 Tom, Thanks for the advice. I will have to get some of those hitchiker springs. Quote
