I tend to try the floating jerkbaits when the water warms and definitely work them faster. I have a new Bagley's Bang-O-Lure that I want to try soon.

They can be killer around docks, rocks, and weed lines in the summer when fish are pressured or when they push back tight to cover after a front or heavy rain.. and like blue said, the smaller ones and the big ones.  I like the xrap in the summer.. but I also like pointer 68 around docks... it's something they don't see everyday.  Guys ain't just beating banks and skipping docks, and pitching hard jerkbaits.

I.think because jerkbaits shine so well in cold water, they get painted in to a corner... I've had some good days with a big old rogue in the heat of summer.

Watch KVD during a tournament.  He usually has a jerkbait tied on.  He just works it differently in warmer temps.  He's a machine when it comes to jerkbait fishing.
