btw, you don't HAVE to vote for 25 total. Just pick your top ones.

I will say the running results surprise me - Briery Creek (which I love) has 13, Sam Rayburn has none.

Me too. I wouldn’t have dreamed Claytor Lake would have been nominated. Wish I could wet a line in each place.

Recheck the chart. Sam Rayburn is currently the top pick with 15 votes and from

what I'm hearing, the lake is on fire!

Yep, I misread the chart.  I was looking at the votes for the Fickle Chick and Cooper River, respectively.  Briery Creek has a single vote (mine).

I'm surprised at some of the votes.  Some of these places should have more votes than they do.

Nominations were made by everyone here on the forums, not staff.  This poll represents the people's choice.

And many lakes are personal favorites due to geographic location but may not be close to " best " , compared to states like Texas, California, Tennessee and many southern states.

I get that. Or you can fill it out like a bucket list.

Some amazing smallmouth lakes on that list.

I used to like seeing my favorite lakes on lists.  Now I won't consider voting for a body of water I plan to fish.  Sad and selfish?  Perhaps...but...

My absolute favorite has no bass, unfortunately...it's in NW Ontario.  Fly-in: walleye and northern lake.

I've never fished any of those places.

Well, California did fare better than Virginia, but that ain't sayin' much in this poll, LOL. Even people with electoral supremacy don't necessarily vote in their own self-interest ?

Full Disclosure: I only voted for two California lakes (Clear Lake, Delta) myself.

IMHO, whatever the reasons may be, the heyday of several southern California lakes on this list is mostly ancient history. They used to be small and stingy but had monster bass in them. Now, they are mostly just small and stingier.
