C5Longhorn Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 I recently bought some Kastking Fluorocote line to use as a leader material. I think I want to stick with mono for my leaders. Is Fluorocote almost the same as mono line? Thanks, Rick Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted March 26, 2021 Super User Posted March 26, 2021 No - it's fluorocarbon coated co-polymer. From their website - https://kastking.com/collections/fluorocarbon-line/products/kastking-fluorokote-fishing-line "It's a combination of the No.1 selling KastKing Copolymer Fishing Line with high-tech 100% fluorocarbon coating that reduces the line's visibility when immersed in water." Mbirdsley Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 Like stated it is flouro coated co-polymer. The kast king flouro clear is decent stuff. Probably imho better than pline flouro clear, Berkley vanish, and stren flouro or best of the cheap flouro co-polymers. I have had 20 lbs kast king flouro clear spooled up on my swim jig rod since last may and I have had no problems with it at all . I also use it as leader material for my t-rig and jig rod which has 30 lbs power pro spooled on it Quote
garroyo130 Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 Man, Kast King becoming the fast food of fishing. Giving the people what they want for cheap. Maybe someday i'll try it ... Quote
C5Longhorn Posted March 28, 2021 Author Posted March 28, 2021 Thanks, appreciate the responses. I bought some as a leader material but will probably return and either stick with mono or add true Fluorocarbon. Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted March 28, 2021 Super User Posted March 28, 2021 It’s great stuff when you consider the price. I agree with the statements above and rank it higher than P-Line, Vanish and Stren Fluorocast all of which I have tried. Quote
